the sponges come vacuum sealed and letting them air out didn't decompress but soaking them in water did a better job. i still had to gently pull apart some edges to get them to fully expand to their expected shape.looking at the pictures and immediate description of the product, it wasn't obvious to me they were only cross cut on one side. due to this the review started off at 3 stars. i added one star because looking back at the product page, i do see they mention it, so my fault.i still think they are a tremendous value and very comparable to the original (see second pic). prior to purchasing and with no reviews on the product yet, i was concerned with the potential for scratches but no longer. the material "feels" the same to me and has the same absorbency. only time will tell if they hold up as well. i will update the review if not.having all these sponges will definitely speed up my no rinse, in garage, car wash. i can use two buckets, one with water/solution, the other empty. using all sides of the sponge to wipe and tossing into an empty bucket to clean up later. grab a fresh sponge and literally, rinse and repeat.
