Family game night.
We’re always looking to add new games to family game night. Fun new games. This one looks good. We’re going to open it after the holidays, which is when our next game night is scheduled. It looks family oriented so it should be a good one. I’m glad I got it.

A TWO PLAYER word-building puzzle-race game with a traditional feel
Format : puzzle-raceThis is a real-time (no turns) game where all players race to put all their pieces into a proper configuration (a crossword including "seed" word).so practicals of which are-no down time (players are NOT waiting for "their turn")-no player interaction (player A's actions, in no way, effect player B)-time pressure, it's a race to completeThis is a "parallel play" game where everyone is playing the same game, but semi-independentlyPlayer count :2 - in reality, this is a 2 player game. There are only that many pieces. Even the instructions say for 4 players, you simply 'team up' so 2 players are doing the same task as 1NOTE (expandability) : the makers do even suggest multiple copies. Due to the format of the game, the player count is expandable (not sure there is a practical limit given it is parallel play with no player interaction)6 to 8 seems doable with sort of a someone shouting "BINGO!!!!!!" effect as player count increasesI think 4-6 [untested by me] would be a sweet spotADDITIONAL NOTE : 3 3 level challenge system (easier or harder "seed" words that must be used to solve) allows for individual players to play at different levels...player A using, say easier seed words than player Bwhich allows for multi-age or multi-language skill players to play at the same timeOverall, and this isn't a criticism, the game plays like a traditional Parker Brothers/Milton Bradley style game than a new school euro-gameso if you are used to scrabble or boggle, then this will have that feelIf you play Catan or Blueprints or Pandemic --- this will feel like Scrabble or BoggleNOTE : while games are hard to quantify in terms of entertainment value, my rating is based on price/performance as compared to other games in the same genre space and the description claiming player count and play quality in that configuration

Surprisingly fun solitaire activity
I have yet to try playing Crossico with other people, but I've had a good time with it by just picking a card and working out the puzzle on my own. The multiplayer game is simply two people or teams working on it at the same time and seeing who finishes first, so the gameplay mechanics are identical.I can see a potential issue with multiplayer games, where players who are more familiar with the available letter combos have an advantage.Basically, if you enjoy other word games and puzzles like Wordle, you'll probably like this one too. And although the box doesn't mention a solo mode, it works fine that way unless you really need a scoring system more involved than simply timing yourself. The cards are decent quality, and the blocks are lightweight plastic with stickers. The components will last, as long as you don't abuse them. As someone with very little shelf space in my game room, I like that the box is exactly the right size to hold everything, without being so small as to make packing it up difficult. As I write this review, the current price is thirty dollars. that's reasonable, but IMO the list price, fifty bucks, is excessive. One box is really more of a 1-2 player set than a 2-4 player set, since it includes only two sets of blocks. With more than 2 players, you're just working in teams. You could theoretically play with any number of players by getting one copy for every two people, but that'd get extremely expensive very quickly. I could see maybe paying fifty dollars for a 4-player set, but not a hundred.
