Does well under make up. Review: Seems to be working - Pretty light formula - not sticky. It seems to be working on reducing the size and tone of my sun damage dark spots. They get a little dry then when fresh skin appears the spot seems smaller. Not very scientific :)

Magic in a tube
I not only put this on my face but I’ve used it on my other hyperpigmentation just to see what it would do and over night it was pretty much cleared. I want this stuff in a big jug. I wish it was more affordable lol that’s the only reason why I put 4 stars.

Chemical Sunscreen with Melasyl
This Kiehl's Auto-Tone Discoloration & UV Solution with SPF 30 is a chemical sunscreen with avobenzone, homosalate, octisalate and octocrylene. I normally use reef safe sunscreen, but I was interested in this formula because it contains niacinamide, which is one of my favorite skincare ingredients, and Melasyl (2-mercaptonicotinoyl glycine), which is a buzzy new proprietary ingredient to target dark spots and protect against them. This sunscreen has a slight tint, but it blends well on my medium light skin. This won't take the place of zinc sunscreens for me, but it's something I will try on days where I'm trying to look my best. Here are the ingredients from the brand website, since I can't find them in the listing. Remember that they are subject to change, and be sure to check the box you get for the latest. ACTIVE INGREDIENTS: AVOBENZONE 3% HOMOSALATE 10% OCTISALATE 5% OCTOCRYLENE 7% COSMETIC INGREDIENTS: WATER C15-19 ALKANE NIACINAMIDE GLYCERIN BUTYLENE GLYCOL SILICA TITANIUM DIOXIDE HYDROXYACETOPHENONE PENTAERYTHRITYL TETRA-DI-T-BUTYL HYDROXYHYDROCINNAMATE POTASSIUM HYDROXIDE SODIUM THIOSULFATE TARAXACUM OFFICINALE (DANDELION) RHIZOME/ROOT EXTRACT TRISODIUM ETHYLENEDIAMINE DISUCCINATE 2-MERCAPTONICOTINOYL GLYCINE BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII (SHEA) BUTTER AMMONIUM ACRYLOYLDIMETHYLTAURATE/VP COPOLYMER ARACHIDYL ALCOHOL ARACHIDYL GLUCOSIDE BEHENYL ALCOHOL CAPRYLYL GLYCOL CARBOMER CITRIC ACID MICA PENTYLENE GLYCOL POLY C10-30 ALKYL ACRYLATE POLYGLYCERYL-4 CAPRATE SODIUM DILAURAMIDOGLUTAMIDE LYSINE TIN OXIDE XANTHAN GUM RED 4 PHENOXYETHANOL

Great products from Kiels
So, I recently started using Kiehl's Auto-Tone Discoloration & UV Solution SPF 30, and honestly, it’s one of the best products I’ve tried for multitasking while still being gentle on my skin. Here’s why it stands out: This product combines two major skincare goals — correcting skin tone and protecting from sun damage — into one easy step. The “Auto-Tone” feature is unique because it’s formulated with ingredients that specifically target discoloration and uneven skin tone, like hyperpigmentation or those pesky post-acne marks. Over time, it visibly works to even out my complexion, which is a game-changer, especially if you’re like me and deal with stubborn spots. Plus, it has SPF 30, which is essential for any skin routine, but especially if you’re trying to prevent further discoloration. What’s great is that it doesn’t feel heavy or greasy like some SPF products can. It’s lightweight, absorbs quickly, and doesn’t leave a white cast, so I can apply makeup over it without worrying about pilling or streaking. Another thing that makes it unique is its blend of skin-loving ingredients — Kiehl’s is known for gentle yet effective formulations, and this one doesn’t disappoint. The formula has antioxidants that add an extra layer of protection against environmental stressors, so I know I’m getting more than just sunscreen; it’s really like an all-in-one skin defense and brightening solution. If you’re looking for a product that simplifies your routine by tackling both discoloration and UV protection, Kiehl's Auto-Tone Discoloration & UV Solution SPF 30 is worth trying. It’s efficient, effective, and feels great on the skin — no wonder it’s already become a staple in my routine!

Everything about this product is bad.
The price is astounding, probably because it's fragrance free and has exciting ingredients that are supposed to reduce redness and hyperpigmentation. I don't have a single nice thing to say. This sunscreen stings my eyes almost immediately, and that's before this non water resistant, non sweat proof formula starts dripping into my eyes. When I wash my face, the stinging burning sensation remains. It appears that my face is also super sensitive to it, as the area where I put it on turns red with a clear demarcation. People asked me if I got sunburned, that's how red it looks. It also pills very easily - I apply two finger lengths on clean, dry skin, as recommended, and the pilling is quite significant. I gave it multiple tries until I figured out that the sunscreen is the problem. Not worth it - do not get it.
