Great little solar fountain!
LOVE this little solar fountain! I've had several from different suppliers & this one has a great solar power source, worked right out of the box & while it does slow down some in the shade, it still keeps working. Very easy to assemble, the moveable arms keep it centered in the bowl & all the different nozzle options are great to find the one you like best. It does pump strongly when in full sun, so you may have to fill bird bath bowl daily, but that's better for the birds & bees to have fresh water anyway. Should be simple to clean, has a small sponge-type filter inside the pump which is easily accessible. Now just curious to see how long it lasts, as my last one worked for nearly three full seasons (May to Oct). Overall, very please with this purchase! (Picture on Left is with full sun, Middle is with overcast/light shade, on Right is video of fountain in full shade ).

Solar Powered
This solar fountain pump works perfectly! It was super easy to set up and started running as soon as the sun hit it. I love the different nozzles,it lets you change up the water pattern for a fun look. It adds such a peaceful sound and beautiful touch to my bird bath and garden. The birds love it too! Great little solar-powered feature for any outdoor space.

Fun addition to a bird bath/water.
I purchased this to go with a bird bath/water stand. It works well and shoots out water and doesn't seem to scare the birds at all. I particularly like the spinning attachment, but that seems to intermittently work. I haven't done it yet, but I think that if I glue a penny at the center of the spinner it should fix the issue. This is completely solar powered without any battery backup, so it turns off when you walk by or a bird perches with the sun behind it. Although a small battery to keep it going would be nice, it was also fun to watch the bird duck for a drink and have it start spraying, then stand up and stop the spray. I think I was more amused than the bird was confused.

Great little solar bubbler! Works well for a 12in diameter birdbath!
So far, it’s great! I ordered the smaller motor since my birdbath is very small and shallow. From reading other reviews I knew to turn the switch to the “min” setting. I hadn’t even gotten it set up, only taken it out of the package and walked outside, when the motor came on. The solar panel works wonderfully. I do see what people are saying about the sensitivity of the panel - if it’s in shade the amount of power it puts out is very low, but it still suits my purpose. I did try on one of the nozzle heads, and it sprayed well, but it was going to shoot the water a little outside of my small area so the original water bubbler works well for me. I was a little worried the suction cups wouldn’t stick to terra cotta, but they worked just fine! I hope it weathers well! I keep trying to add a video but it won’t let me.

barely dribbles. But, maybe it's me
Don't buy this. I bought mine and didn't open it right away, and now it is too late to return it. But you can still save yourself the money and learn from my mistake. The fountain barely dribbles. If I put the nozzle ends that are supposed to send out beautiful arcs of water while rotating, engaging your senses as you listen to the tinkle of falling water and the sound of happy birds? It then still barely dribbles and might turn a millimeter at a time. And did you see in the video and pictures the clear plastic extension piece, which appears to be about 2 inches long and attaches to the fountain, causing the arcs and water displays to reach even higher into the air, easily reaching a height of 2 or 3 feet, catching the light as they cascade under the force of gravity? That is not in the box, and it is not even pictured in the chart of included nozzle ends. I was pretty darn disappointed. And, this was not my first rodeo with a fountain in my bird bath, so I have a pretty good idea of how they are supposed to work. And I found the problem. On the bottom of the unit wrapped around the pump and fountain housing several times and held in with clips is the "This solar water pump kit with a separate design, you are free to design into a water feature or other water circulation system, so that your garden looks lively. With a 9.8ft cord connecting the water pump to the solar panel, you can place your water feature and fish tank in the shade or indoors and simply expose the solar panel to the sun." I am not sure what the heck this sentence is trying to say about keeping your fish tank outside in the shade etc. The issue is this. The tube for forcing water from the pump and then expelling it through the fountain is 9.8 ft long. There is no way a little solar-powered motor can push water that distance, even if a solar flare were occurring. The tubing from the pump to the fountain forms a closed system. You can't just cut and piecemeal it, that would be a weakness in the water propulsion process, and why would you even have to do that? I got disgusted by the whole thing and put it back into the fountain to dribble away. Obviously, I must be missing something important, as this fountain has a reasonably decent rating, but I KNOW that there is no way a 9.8ft piece of tubing is supposed to propel water originating from the motor along its length and eject it with any force out of the fountain end.

I might be an idiot, or this might not work at all
Alright. Update. I've done some experimenting and here is what I will say. It is very pleasing to look at, quite charming. My issues stem largelt from me not properly understanding something I read, which is that the product might not work amazinglt in shade or partial shade. I assumed this meant it would go through the charge it gets in direct sunlight relatively quickly when it is not in direct sunlight. My intention was to put it out in the sun during the day, then, when I'm home from work, put it in the birdbath and let it do its thing. What actually happens, is the second its in the shade, it shuts off. If it is in partial sunlight it just kind of hiccups, and then in full shade it shuts down. Whats important to remember with this product is there is no battery charge that it accrues in the sunlight that will let it work outside of it. Its not like a solar light or anything. If you're bath is largely in direct sunlight, this will be fabulous for you. I keep my bath in partial shade that maybe gets direct sunlight for about at hour, because its super hot here and I thought the birds would like it. Its a good bath. I was emailed a couple of times about resolving issues or potentially getting refunds, which is nice. I'm not sure I'll bother with that though. There's nothing wrong with the bath, and the birds still get a bit of time out of it through the day. My only real complaint is that I wish they'd just come right out and say, "This isn't meant to be in shade or partial shade." It isn't that it might not worl as well in those conditions. It doesn't work at all. I'll keep using what I have, but I would have shopped for other options if it had been clear this thing was not going to work at all outside of direct sunlight. Original Review: I... feel like maybe I'm missing an important step maybe? I set it up, put it on min, and left it to its own devices for the day, but it never turned on. I thought maybe my little fountain was in the shade for too much of the day, so I put it out where it would get direct sunlight in the daytime for two days, and it still isn't doing anything. I don't even hear the pump going. I'm going to play with it a bit more, but I'm starting to think maybe I got a dud. If so, I'll try to return it and exchange for another, and if that one is awesome I will for sure fix my review

One hilarious omission in the instructions!
They left out a very important detail from the instructions. There are two large foam circles, one on top and one on the bottom. The one on the top is obviously to protect the solar panel and also to protect the little stem that sticks out the top; you have to take that circle off in order for everything to work. The foam circle on the bottom seemed to be to protect the pump and stuff on the bottom, so we took it off also. Then we attached a spray head and set the whole thing down in the water. And it sank like a rock! Turns out the foam circle on the bottom makes the whole thing float! So there are two foam circles, one on top and one on the bottom, one you have to take off and one you have to leave on, and, as far as I can see, the instructions don't mention either one of them. Anyway, as far as how it works, it's great! We've only used one spray head because it's the only one we're interested in, because it's perfect for our tiny pre-formed pond. In the morning the pond is in dappled shade and the fountain works fine; in the afternoon it's in full sun and the fountain works even better; the more light that hits the solar panel, the more water it sprays, but it definitely does NOT have to be in full sun. When a cloud covers the sun and the whole yard is in shade, it still works a little bit, in spurts. We just got it so I have no idea how long it will last or anything else, but for now it works great. (As long as it has the foam circle on the bottom!)

powerful little fountain pump
I did an upgrade from the crappy pump that came with the birdbath to the ASITIN 3.5 volt fountain pump, and what a difference !!!!! Absolutely amazing. And the variety of nozzles that you can attach to make all of the different sprays makes it super easy to change the spray patterns . Also the 3 spokes keeps the pump centered in the birdbath. Truly a very neat little gadget. Now I have to see how it will hold up during the long, hot summers. ASITIN also does have some higher end pumps that you might be interested in. I think that the next model that I buy will be the one that has different colors that will underlite the fountain stream , which it is able to do because it does have a battery that is charged by the photocell which enables it to pump for a few hours after dark . So far , I am really impressed with it's performance . So go ahead and buy one for your sweetie , it's cheaper than a darn case a beer !!!!!! And NO I DON'T have a vested interest in ASITIN . You definitely won't be sorry . Joe P.
