A mediocre kit. For intermediates with good eyes.
I snapped a photo so you could see the final product. It took me about 5 or 6 hours to complete, but admittedly I am a slow crocheter. I am however not a beginner. I'd say I am juuuuust experienced enough to complete this kit. This kit is definitely not a beginner kit, even though it did have a pre-started piece. The written instructions while perfectly OK for the crocheting part are absolutely trash for the assembly. If you tried to do it all straight from the written instructions you'd have had a very hard time. Also, a warning, this pattern does not work up in spirals, but uses the Sl-ch1 thing at the end of each round to connect it and add height. I don't actually understand why they chose to do this. If done right, that means the unicorn will have a seam on it. While very annoying, since this pattern does have some color changes, they did come out a little smoother than they would have if the pattern omitted Sl-ch1 The videos do an OK job of walking you through how to do the Sl-ch1...which is good because that is one thing I never have done before when making amigurumi. The videos are...I have a few things to say. First they do go through the entire kit. That is a positive thing. However they use the white yarn and the background is white so it's hard to see. The woman who is demonstrating doesn't always keep her hands completely in focus though...usually at the part where you really need to see what she is doing. The verbal instructions are....I'm sorry, they're trash. Whomever did the translation, if they used a person and not just Google translate did a terrible job. The verbal instructions are sparse at best and not very helpful. It isn't a person guiding you through, but one of those very annoying computer generated overly cheerful tik-tok voices. I needed to watch them for the assembly because the written instructions for the assembly are absolutely garbage. I had to watch the sewing otherwise I never would have finished the project. It made me look back very wisfully at the Woobles tutorials which are so insanely thorough and well done. You are not getting Woobles level quality on the videos. The yarn is not beginner yarn like some of the other kits this company sells. It does split. The pattern uses a fingering weight yarn (read, very thin), though thankfully all of the yarn came precaked so you could pull from the center. If you have bad eyes, this kit is definitely not for you. You will get eyestrain even if you have amazing eyes. This is basically thick thread. The kit came with a 2.25mm hook which is SO SMALL. The hook isn't that bad though. The yarn didn't split all that much, but it did split. The hook is a metal ergonomic hook. The yarn is not beginner yarn like some of the other kits this company sells. It does split. This kit came with *almost* everything you need to complete the kit. Hook, rainbow, pink, and white yarn, stuffing, a plastic tapestry needle, and even a few stitch markers. It also had yarn snips....but they were possibly they were not even close to sharp....they were as sharp as a dull spoon. Possibly the dullest scissors I have ever used. The kit either didn't have or was missing black yarn to make the cute eyelashes, but I had some laying around so I used that. The final product is very tiny. I have very small hands and it fit sitting up easily in the palm of my hand. And it's about the height of my hand. I just took out my little Susan Bates gauge and swatch ruler and it measures from bottom to top of the horn about 14cm (about 4 and 1/2 inches) high and about 8cm (about 3 inches) wide. My yarn tension is farely loose so if you are a tight crocheter yours may be smaller than that.It looks cute from the front, but kinda weird from the back. The box explicitly says you can't sell the final product. However if you live in the US, the US has the right of first sale so you can sell the direct product of the kit with no consequences.

Overall love it- they need better translation/narration
Love, love, love.I just finished the first seaturtle, and I love it. it is far from perfect but I'm really excited that I did it. I tried to do a scarf many years ago and failed miserably. That was with a human guide in person! So I have to say that the combination of the youtube videos and pattern book are helpful...HOWEVER--It took me several videos to realize that the translation from the original language to English was not accounting for verb tense, which definitely led to some confusion. If you're telling me something that I've just finished doing, it needs to be in the past tense. If you say "now we do this", I'm going to think that's something we're about to do (which was not the case).I also wondered if the narration was by AI. There were many, many times when the voice was saying a number and did not give the correct inflection on the word, and so it sounded like something else. I definitely had to rewind multiple times in order to make sure I understood what they were trying to tell me.Luckily once I got the basics down, it was not so hard to follow and I could predict what was happening usually.I did have to look up a separate youtube video from someone else to understand the concept of increase. I think there are better words that could describe what we were doing than what is presented in the various videos and pictures (aka, tell me it's 2 single crochet in the same insertion place. It's that simple.).Now it's time to start the next two turtles, which are supposedly more challenging, so we shall see!

Simple easy
Was a little skeptical on following videos. Would have been nice to also have printed instructions as you had to keep stopping video and rewind.

Did not include yarn to make the project
Did not include the yarn measurements needed. I bought the 3 turtles. I have done a few of these kits from this company and loved them. I was really disappoint when I did not get enough yarn to complete any of the 3 turtles. I had to use left yarn of a different color from other kits. It says 40% extra yarn...mine didn't include enough for them.I sent an email to the company, and I have not heard back from them yet.Really sad and I will not be buying these again. Great instructions, but concern over the yarn.

Great for a beginner
I bought this for my young adult daughter and she absolutely loved doing it. She has now moved onto bigger projects. It definitely worked for a beginner as advertised. Instructions were clear and it was a great value for the money. Highly recommend for those wanting to try a new hobby.
