William Hopkins 25mm Brass Plated Diecast Socket (Pack of 2)

These pole fittings are well made and accurately stamped. The plating is decent too, which can't be said of a lot of brass plated stuff these days. The tendency is for manufacturers to skimp and do a minimal thin plating to cut costs. This creates a very pale anaemiic looking finish which looks fake. Happily William Hopkins have done a good job and these sockets are a good deep colour. It won't fool you if placed next to a solid brass fitting, but no plated fitting will.To my mind this short socket is totally adequate for holding a pole and it looks more elegant than the deep socket version also on offer. Three pozidrive head screws are included in the blister pack, and the pack contains one pair of sockets. I recommend these plated sockets for budget jobs, but if you can stretch to another tenner or so and want the best, I suggest you invest in the solid brass version also from William Hopkins. I really liked these. They are super sweet looking and felt so nice when used with a stained oak pole. They are strong enough to feel confident they will hold and with the correct diameter rod they fit snugly.
