Exactly What it Says it is!
The product description tells you exactly what this is, and you get exactly what it says it is. It shipped very fast, less then 5 business days. (Sorry, i ordered a bunch of stuff and cant remember the exact amount of days it took, but it was very fast.) The only downside, and its my own fault, is that it is too small for 550 Paracord. I saw the word "Jumbo" in the description and thought, 'Well that sounds good!', but it is way too small for paracord. Oh well, for what i paid, i dont care. I will find some use for it. If for some reason you find yourself in the need to thread the 7 strands inside 550 paracord, well then this is the perfect Fid for you. It will work on the 7 nylon strands if you combine them all and fuse one end together.

Good product, No instructions
I bought this based on a recommendation from another website to use with 550 cord/parachute cord. I had no idea on how to make the cord lock into the needle and there were no instructions. It was very easy and took much less time to actually accomplish then it took to find instructions. Heat up a blade, one you don't care about, slice the end of the 550 cord (or any nylon/synthetic cord) at a 45 degree angle and just screw it into the hole at the open end of the needle while the cord is still hot. Hope that helps. The needle itself is very strong and durable. Great for weaving have cords.

Indispensable
I purchased the Perma-Lok needle for tying turk's head knots from paracord, and I couldn't be happier with how well it has worked. Tying complicated knots like a turk's head, would be a major hassle, if not nearly impossible without a proper lacing needle. The needle is well constructed, but there's not much that can go wrong with a solid piece of brass. When properly attached (by cutting the end at a sharp angle and sealing with a lighter, then screwing into the end of the needle) it's very difficult to pull the cord out by accident, if not pretty much impossible, never had it happen. Making decorative knots has never been easier since purchasing this product, and if you're interested in the hobby, I highly suggest buying one.

Perma Lok "Jumbo" Lacing Needle #1193-02
OK, I should have read the product description a little more closely. It clearly states that this needle is 2.25" long. When I first saw it, I thought they had sent the wrong one as it is tiny and comes in a little plastic box, not on a card as pictured. Also the card pictured says the needle can be used for 1/8", 5/32" or 1/4" lace but the actual package says it's for 1/8" or 5/32" lace. The model number is the same though, so they must have changed the packaging and not updated the product photo. It can still be used with paracord, just cut and singe like the user submitted photos show.

Not intended for 550 paracord
To be clear, though you *can* use this needle with 550 paracord with a lot of trimming and careful melting of the cord, this needle is meant to be used with much smaller cord. I use mine with 425, tactical, 3/32", Type 1 (1/14" or 1.85mm) and 1/16" cords. The needle is very sturdy and the inner threading keeps the cord locked in place very well.My only complaint is that this needle has a blunt tip rather than a flat head so it is very hard to get into tight spaces.

Does the job
This is a little smaller than I expected. The ad said it would work with 1/4" lace so I purchased it. It does work with it if you cut the lace at a sharp angle so it will thread into the needle. I may purchase a larger needle for my 1/4" lace at a later date.

A god send!
I made a quiver for my arrows but lacing up the sides without this needle was impossible. my project sat in limbo for weeks until I decided to try this needle. Why did it take me so long?! This thing is a god send! Now I'm looking for more leather things to make! Love it!!

Very Disappointed...
I got these in the mail a few days ago...and I'm pretty disappointed.Don't get me wrong, they work to a certain extent, but I definitely wouldn't buy them again. The needle is VERY small, and this makes it extremely difficult to get the cord in, and it's just a big hassle. Plus they're expensive, considering you can make your own for a buck. (Plus the ones you can make have much bigger threaded holes, so it's much easier to work with.On my second day with them, I got some paracord stuck in the threaded part, and I thought the needle was a goner, but I found an easy way to get it back out.1. Find a small screw that can fit inside the diameter of the hole.2. Heat the cord stuck in the hole so that it starts to become liquid. (Be careful, as the needle will get very hot from the heat transfer from the cord going into the center of the needle).3. Quickly twist the screw into the stuck cord, and let cool.4. After the cord has cooled, twist the screw and the needle in opposite directions so that the stuck cord will unscrew from the threads in the needle.Hope this helped! Seriously though, save your money and just make your own.
