A good quality product

TAPIOCA
What a waste of money! I have never bought Tapioca that breaks up like this when put in water. It falls into pieces and therefore is not what Tapioca should look like. It seems that this product may be old.

A taste from the past.
Haven't had pudding made from large tapioca for a long time, enjoying it.

Needs a lot of cooking
This needs cooking slowly for a VERY, VERY long time, we cooked it for what we felt was a more than sufficient length of time - much longer than we normally do for our regular rice pudding and it was nowhere near cooked, so we put it back in the oven low for another 40 minutes, and still quite hard in the middle - so we abandoned it for the moment and had a different pudding.Determined not to waste it as it was hard to find large tapioca on the internet, the next day I stirred even more milk into the very glutinous mix and put it into the microwave for a couple of bursts of 8 mins, stirring in between, and FINALLY the Tapioca from my school days arrived - it was worth the wait, but next time I'll know.

Microwave it in boiling water for ages.
Wanted to make tapioca pudding with big pearls as the tinned from shops is a bit pathetic. Tried boiling it in a pan first but it kept sticking to the bottom of the pan and boiling dry and I was on the verge of throwing it all away but as a last attempt I put the semi cooked petals in to a pyrex dish with boiling water and then microwaved it for 20 mins, after that it was half done and the water almost gone. So I filled with boiling water and microwaved again and again etc until they were clear. This eventually worked and I made tapioca pudding, so if I bought it again then I'd just microwave it for "hours" making sure to sue boiling water and topping up every 20 mins or so until the beads are clear.
