Very Effective in Certain Scenarios, Qty. 8 is Great.
I received them today and tried them out. I have read a few reviews about how these are not made well. I think it depends on your use case. These won't last for miles but for how I intend to use them they seem perfectly suitable.I think of these "chains" as more for getting un-stuck, getting up a steep driveway, or driving the last mile that did not get plowed. I also would not drive faster than maybe 15mph/25kph with these. They are not a replacement for good tires, and should not be left on the vehicle all-day or all winter.I put 1 on each drive tire of my Prius and it made a noticeable difference going up my ice covered driveway. I think your car would be a tank with 4 on each drive wheel. For this reason, I'll probably split the 8 between two cars, thinking that two per drive wheel is totally sufficient. If you split them up, be sure to take a coat hanger or similar to reach the strap through the wheel. This kit comes with one of these tools, which can also be a scraper, the kit also came in a nice bag with a pair of so-so gloves. The gloves would keep mud off your hands, but if you are using these for snow/ice, you may want a warmer glove. If you do want to drive at any kind of speed with these, I would consider 2 on each of the 4 wheels. If you have a front wheel drive car with 4 on each drive wheel, your traction up front will be way better than in the rear. If you are going down and icy hill and the front wheels are sticking like glue, and the back wheels are slipping, the back end may come around. The way these are constructed, the metal buckle is isolated and won't come into contact with your wheels/rims and cause scratches. They also have a slit/gap in the main plastic body for taking up extra length in the strap. The strap is kind of short, these may not fit on some passengers cars. I think they made the straps short so the excess won't flop around...but a few more inches would be nice to give more to pull on when tightening and to fit larger tire/wheel combinations. The total length is about 37"/95cm. So if the cross-section circumference of your wheel/tire is more than around 34", they might be too short. 4 stars for the straps being of questionable length....make them longer and customers can cut them down if they want.I was able to make them very tight, no chance of them slipping or shifting.I really like the concept of these. If the plastic body was something like fiber-reinforced rubber that would be a lot tougher, but for the price I feel the quality is there, especially if you split the set between two cars.I would suggest having a flashlight, even in daylight it can be tough to see the strap to hook with the tool. A blaze orange strap would be nice in that regard, also to help you see the product if you happen to drop it in deep snow or mud. I suggest ordering the yellow color for this reason as well.Speaking of mud, these might help, but snow-ice is where I feel they are best suited. I'd look at something like the Trac Grabber or Truck Claws for mud/sad/wet grass.I hope this review was helpful.

Some place does not admit non-metal chain
I drove front wheel drive mazda 3, the universal chain is helpful and worked well in snow. Installation is extremely easy once you figured it out (Notice, some tire might not able to put this chain on). However, police stopped me and said the plastic chain is illegal and required metal chain on, thus I have to purchase the metal one to pass the police check. I am in california btw

Do they fit
The straps are too short. They are supposed to fit 265 tires but they don't. I got only two on and they wrapped up when I hit the snow. Not good

Not reliable
Only lasted about 10 miles and then they ripped off. Damaging the side of my bumper

They worked!
Found myself stuck going up a hill in my Honda Van this weekend. I got my grips out and attached them with ease hopped back in the van and off I went up the hill for approx 1/2 mile to my house. They worked but the metal spikes are also now worn down a good bit. They may have one more use left in them. Easy to remove from the tire. 4 stars due to the wearing down of the spikes.

works well
the chain is really effective in snowy and icy road. really helpful in place where i live in nyc where you exprince snow storm few times in the winter. you will need less shovling to do and you can climb right out. the chain is easy to put on and fit great on my car. a good to tool to keep in back your car.

Easy to carry if you plan to take flights and car rental for winter trip
We used it for our trip to Mammoth Lake. We didn’t drive fast because we read some reviews saying it might not keep functioning over 25 miles. At around speed of 30, it still worked well! Although some stripes were twisted and out of shape after use (probably due to the fraction along with the heat generated following cool down from low temperature), but they were able to recovere after leaving at room temperature a night.

They’re AWFUL .
This is the most ridiculous product I’ve ever had the displeasure of purchasing ! We put these chains on for our ascent Up to lake arrowhead and within 10-15 minutes they snapped . We’re in arrowhead and had to buy new chains so now we’ve spent about 3x the original amount we first paid for these ! I want a full refund for these poor excuses for snow chains .
