No, not at all. If you have concerns about keeping coffee fresh, you can always but the beans into an air-tight glass container, such as a jar with a lid. even tupperware will work, even if it's not glass. Basically anything you can seal will work to keep beans fresh. Hope this helps!

Does it come ground or are the beans whole/intact on arrival? Thinking if I have to buy a grinder.

These are whole beans. I would suggest you to buy a grinder, trust me, grind the beans right before making the coffee makes HUGE difference!
