Garage Door Sensor Brackets are Easy to Install
This review is for "2 Pcs Garage Door Sensors Bracket, Replacement for 820CB Safety Sensor Kit Brackets, Compatible with Craftsman/Chamberlain/LiftMaster Garage Door Sensor", by Ceoighe. I could not find an item number in the Amazon listing, but it's ASIN B0D8T1YRQ8. Title and ASIN are included in the review because sometimes reviews get re-sorted and are no longer associated with the correct product. The Ceoighe sensor brackets shipped quickly and arrived packaged reasonably in a padded envelope. Within the shipping envelope the brackets were packaged in a white paper box measuring about 4"x4"x2". Inside the box were the two brackets, each in a separate reclosable clear plastic bag. No instructions.I purchased the Ceoighe brackets because I've been having trouble with my garage door sensors and I'm hoping that these new brackets will help. The problem I've been experiencing with my 30-year-old sensors is that they will get out of alignment and then the door won't close. Its a big hassle to get the sensors re-aligned because they're mounted to the concrete wall with a couple of screws and after 30+ years of regular adjustments they really don't like to stay in place. I'm hoping that I can mount the sensors to the track with the Ceoighe and that this will keep them in place.Installation of the Ceoighe was not particularly difficult. The brackets clipped onto the tracks without the need for tools. Then the sensors attached to the brackets, also without the need for tools, thanks to the screw and wingnut design. Once I'd assembled it all I was concerned that I'd have some trouble getting the sensors aligned properly, but to my surprise I got it right very quickly. The one thing about the install which did take quite a while really had nothing to do with the Ceoighe brackets, but I'll mention it in hopes of saving others the same effort. First, it was a big pain to remove the old brackets because the screws were difficult to reach and located in filthy corners. More importantly, I decided that I should refresh the connections to the sensors, which were twisted wires covered with wire nuts. After 30+ years these wires were tarnished a bit and I figured they might not be making solid connections. I cut off the wires, re-stripped, re-twisted, and added new wire nuts. Then I couldn't get the sensors to work at all. I didn't notice this at first, but long story short the wires are polarized. I had to cut off the connectors, reverse the wires, then re-connect. On both sensors! But after this faux pas Everything went smoothly.I'm very pleased with the Ceoghe, at least so far after several days in use. I'll update this review if I find that the brackets don't keep the sensors in alignment.
