Our two ferrets have been eating Wysong Epigen since we got them, but I was never really happy with it as the ingredients didn’t seem like they were actually that great for ferrets (a lot better than Marshall’s, of course, but that’s not saying much at all) and our girls just don’t seem to like it. They eat it, but they clearly don’t love it and they end up throwing a lot of it out of their bowl. I want to feed them a much healthier diet, but I’m still learning and don’t understand enough yet to start making a raw diet for them by myself so we got this as an intermediate step. Started mixing it in with the Wysong, and they were actually eating more of their food instead of throwing it overboard. Now, they’re mostly just eating this (along with hearts and such a few times a week) and they’ve never thrown a single piece of it out. They get SO excited when I go to fill up their bowl with it, and they’re eating SO much more than they did before. I wish the price was a lil lower, but you get what you pay for and in my case, I’m getting a lot: peace of mind knowing that their nutrition needs are better taken care of than what I could provide at the moment, the convenience of not having to make it myself, and two happy ferrets. It’s worth it. It’s funny to see our cats and our dogs come running when the bag opens, too — we use this strictly as ferret food, but the other animals seem pretty interested in it as well so I may get some to use as treats or just for sprinkling on top of their food. Note: the mackerel and lamb smells EXACTLY like fish food to me, and it’s pretty strong. I don’t love it, but it’s not for me and i only have to smell it when I’m opening the bag so who cares? 🤷🏼‍♀️ The fact that it has a strong scent is actually a bit reassuring — it just wouldn’t sit right if a raw/“natural” product was odorless.

I've read about the benefits of feeding cats raw food for a while but never had enough freezer space to order bulk meat for them. After some research, we picked this to test with them, since it's essentially "raw" meat jerky bits. We weaned them off their old food and onto this. Within a month, they were more playful, had better eye clarity, and didn't have urine crystals anymore (we were feeding them prescription urinary diet food since male cats get urine crystals sometimes, and it wasn't fixing the issue, despite no food besides the prescription diet). Raw food has no fillers, is natural for a carnivore diet (like cats need), and can be mixed with supplements (like fish oil, algae, quail eggs, lysine, etc.). The food is a little expensive if you have more than 1 cat, but genuinely I've seen so many (positive) changes in our cats' behavior and health, that it's totally worth it. The vet said if it's working for them, they don't need the prescription processed food anymore and it's better for their teeth because it isn't hard food bits, it's soft dried meat. I've told all our cat owner friends about it since it's a great solution for a raw cat diet without the hassle of giving cats raw meat.

Our two cats are flourishing on this stuff! They came from wet food and so when started on this we gradually did with wet food. At first they didn’t want anything to do with it until one day that’s all they had to eat and it’s been good ever since. They still have a wet food dinner but while I’m at work they are getting this through automatic feeder. What I love about this brand is that their site as an actual personalized calculator that when putting in your cats weight/age/if neutered or not - it will let you know more or less what their feeding amount should look like. This is a very rich and calorie dense and so you might think it’s expensive but not really as you don’t use the same amount as you would say kibble or certain wet food. Mines have about 20-24g 3 times during day and their wet food at dinner getting their recommended calories for the day. Love that this isn’t like the freeze dried food that has to be hydrated with water or broth - this doesn’t need to be hydrated due to how it was dried. Has consistency of beef jerky. They get plenty of hydration from the water they drink from water fountain so no issues there. My cats are more content after eating this and we have seen big changes in appearance. Our gray cat’s fur especially was looking a bit dry and dull and now his fur is beautifully shiny and smooth. Our little one was never content and now he’s good after his meals keeping him at the right weight as his breed is known for getting overweight easily. We are sticking to this one here!

Really great product, my cat loves it, wholesome, although still dry food. I had a subscription to this product, but after receiving my last shipment, I canceled it. The item received full of broken/powdered pieces and crumbs. I will have to sift it to get the powder out. Seller was hard to reach. You have to go through Amazon customer service (which by the way were awesome in resolving the issue for me). I am worried about future purchases from this seller. I will buy elsewhere.

My youngest cat loves this food. We started her on this to get her off the kibble that the rescue center had been feeding her. She was eating raw like my other 2 cats, however this was her favorite. It is a bit expensive, but the ingredients are high quality and it's not loaded with fillers and other chemicals.

If I could rate this at 0 I would. WARNING DO NOT BUY! First, this item is not returnable even if the item hasn't been opened. Second and most important, this made my cat extremely sick! Throwing up and fever for a few days. Yes, I did gradually transition from his old food to this new food. Then the company will not offer refunds. I tried this out for a week and each time my cat had it he was sick right after eating it. When coming back to look at reviews there are other customers whos cats experienced the same thing. BEWARE and I would advise to not feed to any cat! Amazon should stop selling this product immediately. Also, It's crazy expensive and now I am out a ton of money and can't return. My cat is finally feeling better after getting him different food. Took over a week though.

This food is marketed for, and used for, cats. However, it is a well known and well loved brand in ferret care as well. My ferrets adored this food. It made their coats soft, their poops stink less, and overall gave them the energy and spark that all baby ferrets should be known for. Pros: - Easy to serve - Easy to store - Easy to portion Cons: - Strong smell (Con for people, not for critters!) - Switching from standard cereal kibble to a food this rich takes a little longer. Be patient!

My cat will only eat dry food, so I have to at least find the best dry food for him. Ziwipeak has the best ingredients and it is air-dried too! Unfortunately my cat does not like the food :( Unlike other dry food, this has a flat, jerky like texture, no matter how slow I try to transition him to this food he will not eat it. He will be whining out of hunger and still refuse this food. If your cat will only eat dry food and is willing to eat this, then I can honestly say this is the best food for your cat. You should order a small size and test it out. Since my cat will not eat this food, I have to revert back to the next best thing, dr.elsey’s cleanprotein.
