La Reina del Sur: Volumen 2 [DVD]

Sorry, don't have much time, I loved it.

La Reina del Sur was one of the most exciting, fast paced and tightly plotted telenovelas ever aired. It has great acting, led of course by Kate del Castillo in the title role. There are no subtitles, and it's in Spanish, so you have to be fairly fluent to understand what's going on. The story is gripping, tracing the unexpected rise, fall and rebirth of a woman who never asked to be, but somehow turned out to be, a very powerful figure in the international drug trade. Even though she's a "criminal", the viewer has a lot of sympathy for her, as she has a strong internal moral code, and cares deeply about her friends. The original series ran 63 episodes, and all 63 are included in full on Volumes 1 and 2 (6 discs each). The picture and sound are clear, and I'm really enjoying every minute, even though I saw it originally on TV.

Love the show n now I can watch it as many time I want.

NO subtitles, not in English OR Spanish. So we watch, then we stop it for my husband to translate what he can remember. But with no Spanish subtitles, if he can't understand the spoken words, then neither of us knows what was said.

I love the novela. The only probem is that the DVD version was not edited, therefore the start of the novela shows (all the corrido) on each episode as well as after each commercial (or what would have been). Other than that the actual story, acting and all in this series is great and it shows the great Latino talent we have.

DVD #3, Volume 2 is defective. I cannot ask for replacement?! This review is for the vendor, not about the series itself.

it could been better with out all th "Comercial songs" other than that we enjoyed it..

Of course, if you do not have an NTSC player, and do not speak Spanish, this is not for you. However, if you do, and if you do like Arturo Perez Reverte novels, you will enjoy it immensely. Yes, I have read the book. Yes, it is well worth watching the series after reading the book. Perez Reverte adapts well to cinema and television, this is one of the best adaptations. If you have not read the novel, the gist, without spoiling, is as follows. The plot is based on the devise later made famous by Breaking Bad (La Reina del Sur, the book, came first): an ordinary person, just to survive, goes to the world of narcotics, and thrives, with a lot of adventures along the way. The development of plot, characters and settings are rather different from the Breaking Bad, though. The series are very well done, the actors are superb.

I bought it to use some videoclips in a Spanish class, and was extremely disappointed to find out that the DVD's had no subtitle options.

Como estaba indicado y no fue sorpresa venía para región 1.Como no tengo un lector multiregión pasé los DVD'S por el ordenador y les quité las protecciones con el DVDfac Decripter y al mismo tiempo los copié a nuevos DVD'S ya sin región. La calidad de imagen y sonido es muy buena.

Compre los dos volúmenes que no me han ido nunca en un video normal. Llame a Amazon un comercial me dijo que era para video blu-rey hasta que no eh podido no me eh comprado uno. Cual es My sorpresa que tampoco funciona ninguna de las películas como en el video dvd. Hemos probado en otros vídeos blu-rey y incluso en uno lo a bloqueado. Se que a pasado tiempo pero tengo que dejar comentario ya que son dos volúmenes y pienso que han venido de defecto de fabrica y no yo no puedo comprarme otro aparato para ver la serie y encontrarme que tampoco puedo verlo.
