Review: Devastating yet tender. - This book is a lot and I strongly recommend looking up content warnings before starting and making sure you're in the right headspace for it. I went into this expecting it to be devastating - which it was - but it surprised me more with its tenderness. The description says it's about four friends, but really the book centers around one person, Jude, and the people around him as he struggles against a harrowing past that seems to shape his life even in late adulthood. Jude's inability to accept himself as somebody worthy of kindness is a running theme throughout the book - and so is the unconditional kindness that is shown to him by several characters anyway. This book shows not just what it's like to struggle against your own life every day but how difficult it is to watch someone you love go through that struggle, to hold onto to someone who wants to let go. The writing is beautiful, I had to read several lines multiple times simply because I was awed by the author's command over language. It's rare for a 720 paged book that relies heavily on its characters with no clear plot to hold one's attention this well. By no means is this a happy book. In fact, it gets darker and bleaker the further you get into it. It's unflinching in its portrayal of horrifying events but equally attentive to its tender moments. I found its commentary on friendship, aging, disability, mental illness and love to be quite thought provoking. This is a book that will make you feel. Review: Nice Book - You should read this book at least once in your life. It teaches you many things about friendship, pain, resilience, and what it means to be human. The story is deeply emotional and stays with you long after you finish it. It is not an easy read, but it is absolutely worth it.

Good book, had a few dents on cover
Book Condition- the book was received in great condition, however there were a few folds on the cover page where it was dented. The pages were intact. The seller should look into transporting with more care, as its a bulky book. The pages are butter-soft too- it enchanced the reading experince with an original copy. Book review- This might have been the first character driven novel, that I was so engrossed in. The characters, their lives, I was living them as the author described them! I was breathing with them, and I was crying with them. I absolutely loved this book, and the way it describes friendships, love, ways to love.

New favourite book!
This book is traumatising, no doubt about that but it's a BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN BOOK. I would have loved the book regardless of the outcome. The story is character-driven and the details of their everyday life but some nuances make them special. I can guarantee you one thing, these characters are going to stay with you. They seemed so real, I felt like I knew them personally. Once I finished reading, I initially wanted to reread it. I would have if the book didn't give me so much pain. I miss them all. I wanted this to be longer. Yes, 720 pages felt too short. I want to know what happened on each day in their life.

A Haunting Journey: The Emotional Toll of “A Little Life” by Hanya Yanagihara
A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara is a heart wrenching and devastating exploration of trauma, friendship, and the deep scars that past experience can leave on a person. The novel weaves around four friends in New York, focusing especially on Jude, whose past life is haunted by unspeakable abuse and pain. I found the book to be unusually long, filled with an almost relentless depiction of Jude’s trauma, self-harm, and deeply disturbing thoughts. The unflinching detail with which Yanagihara portrays Jude’s suffering made the novel an emotionally exhausting experience for me. Despite this, my favorite characters are Andy and Willem—I fell in love with them the moment they were introduced. Their compassion and care provided some much-needed light in an otherwise harrowing narrative. I also loved that the book allowed us to see through the perspectives of the other characters, adding depth to their relationships with Jude. That said, this is a book I would never lightly recommend. While it's beautifully written and incredibly moving, the sheer devastation it brings left me emotionally wrecked. I highly urge anyone interested to check the trigger warnings first, as this is not a story to go into unprepared. It’s a novel that can grip you tightly, but in doing so, it leaves your heart in pieces. This is one book I would NEVER recommend, because I don’t want others to endure the emotional toll it took on me.
