Lanterns were easy and fun to make with 9-year-olds. The instructions were clear, the clay colors vibrant, and the tools were a good quality. We used a rolling pin to roll out the clay, but the rolling tube provided works too. We especially liked the star shaped tool for making star shaped holes. The tools were easy to clean, and we made lanterns a second time with the molds, which worked well. All 5 of the girls were proud of the lanterns they made. Overall it was a fun activity for a reasonable price.

Super easy and came out great. We had enough clay to make 3 lanterns. Some of the dye from the clay did transfer to our hands (not a big deal) but not sure if it would transfer to a kitchen table as we put Wee Wee pads down on our table before we started. Definitely make sure the lantern is completely dry before pulling the mold out, our first one cracked a little. Our second one came out great since we let it completely cool. Wish there was a second mold to make 2 at once.

This was a really fun project for me and my 8 year old. He liked getting to pick commits, work with the clay, and get creative. However, both the candle holders we made cracked when we removed them from the mold after baking. His got a small crack, so I tried letting mine cool longer, and it got a HUGE split down the side. The mold sticks to the clay a bit, and the clay just does not seem to hold up well when you’re trying to separate them. If the cracks hadn’t happened, this would’ve been a five star project for us.

Bought 2 of these kits for my 8-year-old granddaughter's birthday party. Six kids, ages 6-8 (boys & girls) really enjoyed the activity. It took about 3 adults to help the younger ones and supervise. Heads-up, even though the kit gives you supplies to make 3 lanterns, you can only bake 1 at a time (per kit), and each one takes 20 mins to bake and about 20 to cool. They did this activity first, then they played games, ate pizza and cake while adults baked and rotated them in and out of the oven. They were all ready by the time the kids left.

Purchased for an Easter Basket. Very well received.
