Shredded Beef 3lb.

I purchased this when the facility I live in was under a "hard" COVID lockdown (it's an assisted living facility, so it's filled with really vulnerable people). We were told not to leave our apartments unless there was a fire or we had a medical emergency. I prefer cooking my own meals rather than relying on the stuff they were delivering during this lockdown. Grocery shopping was out of the question. So .. Amazon to the rescue.I ordered this on the off chance that it would be an acceptable substitute for my usual pulled beef (a chuck roast, slow-cooked, then shredded). Really pleasantly surprised at how good this is!I portioned the contents into 10 air-tight storage containers and put them in the freezer. You're advised not to freeze it in the bag (for obvious reasons), but removing the contents to freeze works just fine.I love the fact that this is JUST beef plus a little broth and a slight amount of salt. The flavor is quite good. I've used it so far for 1) barbecued beef sandwiches (just mix the shredded beef with a little barbecue sauce); 2) enchiladas (mixed with some red enchilada sauce, rolled in corn tortillas, topped with more sauce and cheese, then baked); and 3) heated with some onion & garlic salt-free seasoning and served on top of mashed potatoes. Each dish turned out very tasty. The beef is lean -- really almost no fat -- and quite tender.I plan to purchase this again to have on hand for times when I just can't get to the store. It's a tad pricey, but the convenience, flavor, and versatility make up for that.

This is pretty good, at a good price.It’s best if heated by traditional methods as microwaving toughens it. Added at the last minute to roasted vegetables it’s great for a stew or casserole dish, in a fraction of the time. It’s also good on toast. It’s best served hot because of fattiness described below.It is somewhat fatty, so heating it in a little boiling water stovetop affords the opportunity to scoop off oils and fats.It’s low in sodium for a prepared product which is a BIG selling point for me. Aside from the obvious health issues, personally I detest cooked-in salt. Which is always ridiculously excessive in prepared foods. I opt for a sprinkle of course salt to finish a dish, added according to individual tastes.The lack of seasoning also means you can decide the flavor, whether fried up with onions for breakfast ,or used in a curry or taco.I split it up into single use containers once open, and freeze what I don’t need right away. I wish this was available in small packs for camping and hiking.

It was very tasty product. The shelf life is adequate. Good product for emergency food source.

I found the Sampco shredded beef to be an excellent product. Low fat, not over cooked, appears to have at least a two year shelf life in a very sturdy mylar type packaging. The meat tasted excellent. I tried it numerous ways, such as in a gravy over mashed potatoes, in burritos and heated up in microwave, plain out of bowl. Very nice product, highly recommend it for daily use but also for a non refrigerated meat source. Also Sampco's website is very nice as well, clearly showing dedication to their products.

Purchased this product with the thought in mind similar to roasts that I have made for shredding, not the same. The meat seems good in a pinch. Just it was packed with pieces of fat, saw similar acts to gain weight and mass when worked in the meat industry. If fully cooked fat would not be that way.Recommend cooking your own roasts for shredding.

This is a Great product, Great value. It wonderful because of the long shelf life. I have purchased this about 4 times now as the price has dropped from the 1st time purchased. It a great product because it's beef and salt. While it's 3 lbs of meat, I had read one of the Q & A that once open a person repacked into smaller amounts and froze it. However, I have not tested the frozen product yet, I imagine it would be the same as freezing any cooked meat. I am very happy with this product and would recommend it to others.I wish it was available through subscription so I could lock in a price and set it and forget it.Great stuff, very Yummy!

If I could give it a negative 10, I would. This stuff was awful! It came out of the package like a beef pate with globs of fat. It DOES NOT look even remotely close to the picture on the package. It smelled bad as well, more like dog food than beef. It was a total waste of $40. Buyer Beware!

This really did make me sit back and go "woah".I expected a soupy, congealed mess, but got REAL SHREDS OF BEEF. The taste is BEEF, not chemicals. Eating it right out of the package, it reminds me, slightly, of non-salty corned beef, but heated up it is amazing.Use it for tacos, braise it for a ragu, packed into burritos, casseroles, and BBQ sandwiches.It is versatile and flavorful.Only issue I have is the size - I am breaking it into ziplocs and freezing when I open the large package to keep it when I need it.
