Touchmaster

Bought this for my husband many years ago but never really played, recently it has been in use and become quite addictive, resulting in us queuing to use it and competing for high score.I purchased a second (second hand) game to avoid the wait but having to play long games to beat the high score table, so I found a way to delete the high scores now we can start again and only have our own names on the score table (Play any one of the games. You must get on the scoreboard. As the games starts to save your score flip the game out turn off the DS and then turn back on. You may need to do this a few times but it does work eventually).

I say time waster in a good way! I play the majority of the games but I ahve my handful of favourites I tend to stick to most.This is wonderful for car, plane, train trips and time passes quite quickly when you play this.They are simple games, mostly beat the clock. Nothing too challenging so if thats something you need then this is not for you.There is also a cross word and hangman which is great but I find some times its more american trivia but its do-able.Have fun!

Touchmaster on the ds may sound like a good game and it is and it isn't. As you would expect some of the games will be good and the rest will be just plain crap or unplayable ,the biggest downfall i think this game has apart from some of the stuff being americanised very heavily is the game timer on some of the games ,solitaire classic and mah jongg pairs suffer the worst with the timer as you just don't get enough time to actually play the game ,the timer just ruins solitare classic because it goes too fast and it feels like the more you advance on it the faster the timer goes and mah jongg pairs is just totally unplayable with the timer (you have to finish each round with the timer still going in order to advance to the next stage).There are some good games even if the timer is fast with my favourite being the wordsearch (the timer only goes fast when you're on the bonus lightning rounds) and pairs where you have to pair the pool balls that are the same number next to each other ,touchmaster will at least have 1 game that you will like to play.All the games you get on touchmaster are...CARD GAMESTarget 21 - You try to get 21 points with the cards in each of the 5 columns to win.3 peak deluxe - Try and clear the 3 peaks by playing a card one higher or lower than your deck card.Go wild - Try and clear the playfield using cards of the same suit or number to win.Phoenix 13 - Try and reach lucky number 13 by combining 2 or more cards.Triple 11s - Try and clear the playfield by combining 2 or more cards that equal 11.Uplift - Try and get all the aces to the top of the four columns to win.Solitaire classic - Play classic solitaire with either 1 or 3 cards at a time.Power cell - Play a different version of solitaire thats a super charged version with all cards showing at once.Double take - Match suits or pairs to score points.SKILL GAMESPond kings checkers - Play a game of leap frog checkers.Artifact - Eliminate your opponent by taking over all their power tiles.Hot hoops - Get the basketballs in the baskets using the 5 basketballers and score as many points as possible.5 star generals - Roll the dice to clear all 12 patterns on the board to win.Pick up 6 - Roll the dice to clear all 12 patterns on the board to win.Trivia - Choose from one of 6 categories and test your knowledge (NOTE this is heavily americanised).Word search - Choose a categorie then find all the words on the board to access the lightning rounds.PUZZLECrystal balls - Like tetris but you have to connect 3 or more balls in a row by color or number to score big points.Mahki - Score points by matching 2 or more similar touching tiles.Pairs - Choose from easy or hard difficulty then clear the table by matching 2 adjacent pool balls that have the same number.Times square - Play your tiles inside a grid and go for a high score.Mah jongg pairs - Choose what kind of tiles you want then clear the playfield by matching all open tiles (you are given 3 hints).Gem slide - Clear all the gems from the grid by matching 3 or more in a row.Wordz - Choose a category and then solve the hidden word puzzle (NOTE this is heavily americanised).

Touchmaster is the game to buy before you get More touchmaster. It is so much fun and to wipe the scores of people that have played the game with you gives you the competitive feeling. I am still on Touchmaster not even opened More Touchmaster yet, don't want to spoil the fun and enjoyment of the first one. I think everybody should have a go at all the puzzles, yes there are many and they are really fun.

This has been out a long time but I still find it keeps me occupied during the evenings, have bought again as I gave my original to my daughter.

Very disappointed in this, especially as it was bought as a Christmas present. One would expect a collection of hand-held computer games to include a few favourites such as Tetris, or Asteroids or even Space Invaders, but none of the games here looks familiar, and the Word and Trivia sections are horribly American. Even if you do attempt the word games, there is no relaxation to be had, as everything is timed!42-in-1 is far better value, IMO - much more entertaining and less US-centric.

Not very interesting

Ok, one of the games completely freezes. The quiz is American and so tv or sport questions are impossible. Some of the games don't work quite right or 'cheat' as badly made.BUTI play a little nearly every day. It is restricted to only about 5 of the games, but they are good enough on their own for a bit of light entertainment.I would like to be able to reset the scoreboards. Its a bit boring when you have no chance of getting on them anymore. There is a way around it but it doesn't always work. If you take the memory card out at just the right moment it is saving a score, it can reset, but not always.
