Chunky and bright!This watch isn't afraid to be seen, or get into scratches, bangs or splashes of water.The watch frame is solid molded ABS plastic, with a sealed hard plastic fascia. (that is protected in shipping by one of those lovely "peel off" films!)The strap is rubberised, and certainly long enough for a child who is "big boned".The buttons need a firm press, preventing inadvertent activation of the different modes, or the inbuilt electroluminescent back-light.The backlight is the VERY SAME technology used in Timex Indiglo watches!It's activated by a short press, and then stays illuminated for about 2 seconds after. This means you don't have to bring both hands up to your face to read the time and activate the light. NOT something the Timex watches ever did - they had to be held "on".The "movement" is a quartz crystal oscillator that vibrates at roughly 32,768 times a second, depending on the temperature. This is a very accurate method of timekeeping, and keeps time well, gaining or losing at most a couple of seconds each day. Normally less if the watch is around room temperature, a little more if snowball fights are involved!The watch is a present for a friends young daughter who likes getting out and about on adventures, I think she'll love it!
