Has survived the test of time. I learned the clarinet with this book and 30 years on my daughter is doing great too.

Classic book to work through for beginners. Starts from the very basics and builds up gradually. Exactly what you’re looking for at any age of learner.

This book explains the lower case noting and the positioning of the fingers for that section. It does not explain the higher notes and would need a teacher to expand on this. It is clear though and does have some good tunes/scales to practise.

Simple to follow as an adult, I am currently teaching myself until I can find a tutor. Would recommend everyone have a tutor, especially children. Gorgeous and fun to use, learn from.

There is a narration at the start which I found useful on the first day I ever picked up a clarinet, to teach myself, only six weeks ago. I put it down when I wasn't very far in. Like Book 2, there are some really off-putting finger displays, which made me think I was incapable of playing another instrument. Let me assure you, that whilst I know that learning a new instrument is tough, especially without tutoring, I have learnt to play the clarinet in six weeks, using a different book and a You Tube video telling me how to hold me mouth, assemble and disassemble and clean the instrument. Nothing more and there was no input from this book.

Great book for beginning clarinet student. Songs are interesting and progress at a pace that keeps the lessons interesting. I would buy this again and recommend it to friends and family. This book was recommended to me by my child's professional clarinet instructor and we love it.
