It’s good for portability, for instance camping, or having a small backyard party. It comes with 2 mics, but they need batteries. Both mics will be controlled with the same mic volume and echo button, so they can not be controlled separately, which is why I took off a star. There is also an instrument or mic input with a C charger and a usb output for charging an external device, like a phone or tablet. It looks beautiful in the dark with the glowing lights and it sounds nice. I’ve been using it in my bathroom for the extra effects while running a bath and the nice volume gets me hyped in the morning before heading out.

I had hopes for this device but I have found others in this price range that had pretty significantly better sound quality than this one does. I put it through all its paces and everything worked perfectly though I didn’t like having to allow the device access to other features on my phone when I linked it.My problem is the sound quality, and all the buttons and fancy features don’t mean a hill of beans if it doesn’t sound good. This sounded very cheap… nowhere near the bass you want and evrything was harsh and overdriven, even at moderate volumes.A step up from a child’s device perhaps, but not in the sound department.

It seems that once kids get to about the 8 year old milestone, finding a gift that they will actually not just like, but be thrilled about gets to be a very difficult thing to accomplish. I've found that the list is pretty short, and almost always involves something electronic.This karoake machine is a winner! When he opened it, his eyes lit up like a Christmas tree that had just been plugged in. Before he even tried it out, he was super excited just seeing the machine itself - it does look pretty cool, I have to admit.Once he plugged it in to charge and use it, all the kids saw the lights and were attracted to the karoake machine. They had a ton of fun checking out all the different features, it was super easy to connect to their mom's cell phone - and the sound is good. Mom says it might be "too good" :- )This is a great gift choice, one that the kids actually love getting and using, instead of something they say they like - but never use.

I had a bluetooth speaker a long time ago that I would play my music through because it was louder than my phone and I could play it to hear across the house. This works much the same and does good for setting up an ambiance in a D&D game. The mics work but I don't really use it for that. I wish I could turn the lights off entirely, so I took a star off for that. Haven't played with it more than as a speaker.

For it's size, which is about 9x14x6 inches, this machine works well. It can be connected to with Bluetooth and worked fine for my iPad and iPhone. The sound can get fairly loud, but does lack a bit of bass. You can control the music and he microphones volume separately. There is also a knob to adjust the reverb.The 2 wireless mics do require 2 AA batteries each that are not included. The mics are decent, but I think they have a noise cancelling feature that is a bit off, where it goes completely silent when you pause singing but once you start singing you hear a jump in static that is a bit jarring. I would prefer it sound as if the mic was on the whole time instead of that background buzz going in and out which is more noticeable to me. There is a port to plug in one wired mic so I personally prefer that instead of the wireless mics.Overall though, this is a good quality casual Karaoke machine. I would not recommend it for karaoke aficionados because the sound quality will not compare to expensive setups, but for casual singers it is quite a lot of fun.
