One of my sons plays basketball, and, being one of the shortest on court, he regularly gets shoulders and elbows in the face. I thought it would only be fair to protect these poor giants from being damaged by my son's face so it's time for a mouthguard.We've had a proper cheap one in the past and binned it after minutes as it was so poorly designed with edges that cut into the mouth and gums. This one is better and much more comfortable. We ordered the junior (he's 11) and it's just about big enough. Older children may need a small adult size.It's easy to mould - soften in boiled water then bite down on it and dunk in cool water to set the shape. We ended up doing this twice to get a better fit. I've given this 4 starts not 5 because of the fitting. The shape of the unit about right to follow his teeth, however the width (side to side thickness) is not. We've found the walls too wide over the molars and the guard doesn't want to 'clamp' tightly enough. As such there is a bit of wobbling when he runs. The only way to get a true perfect fit is to get one professionally made - these cost a fortune!Otherwise it's good. He doesn't struggle to breath when using it, it's easy to clean, comfortable and will off a little impact protection. He'll get plenty of use out of it.

I use a gumshield for Krav Maga, where I occasionally (ok, regularly!) take one in the face, so I was excited to test this out.The shield comes with a fairly standard case for storage.The supplied instructions explain well about how to fit the gumshield, however I had to reheat a second time as the shield bent outwards while cooling, which meant my front teeth were not getting the protection they need.The shield is quite small, I found it didn't provide the protection of my teeth that my other gumshield does. I had to really work hard to get it to stay in place and not slip down. Eventually I had a secure fit on the front teeth, but not great at the back due to the size. I'm an average sized adult. This would be a perfect fit for juniors, but not great for adults.----------------------------This review is for an item I received free as part of the Amazon Vine program. I needed a mouth shield for sparring practice so opted for this mouth guard based on its 'dual layer' shock absorbing design.The shield is very easy to fit - heat in hot water, put in mouth and suck the air out to get it to shape to your teeth and bite.I found the shield a little small as it doesn't reach the back of my molars however it protects the front teeth fine.Also, after shaping and fitting it I found it too wide to fit back into the protective case easily and have to bend the guard to get the case to shut. Not a big deal but just a bit annoying after having shaped it to fit my mouth exactly.Quality is fine and hopefully this will offer good protection the next time I get punched in the face!

Really easy to use with simple instructions to follow. They are comfortable to wear once they are moulded to size. Really good quality and comes with a protective case. Great value for money.
