Some people seem to think they are going to "feel something" different when taking resveratrol supplements. It's not going to change your world, but when taking in combination with a healthy lifestyle (hence the term supplement), these polyphenol type antioxidants can promote healthy aging and help put in check reactive oxygen species that are present in stressed cells.Sometimes less is more, that's what this supplement is. If you look in the literature you can see some nice studies done using resveratrol-gallactomannin complexes that help aid in absorption and prolonged half-life in the blood. A major problem with resveratrol is bioavailbity and uptake. A large amount of it is primarly modified by your liver and promotes excretion with a low circulating time. Progress has been made to address this issue, and it's a very common problem in drug delivery in general, where things are too hydrophobic to be absorbed, and either passes right through, or is modified in a way that neutralizes its potential.Using resveratrol impregnated into gallactomannins (which is a unique carbohydrate structure), the uptake and half-life are significantly improved, and hence the ~40 mg of trans-resveratrol you get, embedded into a ~2-fold mass of delivery agent (gallactomannins) provides improved stability and delivery. A lot of research both prior and ongoing has been done on resveratrol and resveratrol derivitives, but again it's important to manage your expectations when taking anti-oxidant supplements. Would you expect to "feel something" when drinking a glass of cranberry or pomegranate juice? No. Antioxidants should come from a variety of dietary sources, and taking these capsules should not replace those other sources. It's a supplement. It's not going to relieve your pain or make you feel particularly amazing, but you can know the science is real behind cellular stress, which can be induced by free radicals. Polyphenols do a wonderful job of neutralizing those species, the problem is drug delivery and bioavailablity. The gallactomannin approach is a pretty clever and natural based way of addressing this specific problem.I will note that the capsules appear to have a more brownish/tannish color to them, which may or may not be indicative of purity. The majority of material in the capsule is going to be the carrier materials, as you are only getting 40 mg of trans-resveratrol per capsule.

Life extension always pricey, however it would be better taste for pills, otherwise, very helpful

I think Life Extension makes the best vitamins. However, they changed the formula in their Optimized Resveratrol. The original formula contained 250 mg of Trans-Resveratrol, 150 mg of Quercetin, 60 mg of grape and wild blueberry blend and 10mg of fisetin. The new formula contains 40 mg of trans-resveratrol and 77 mg from fenugreek seed (whatever that is). This does not equate to the original 250 mg of trans-resveratrol the old formula used to contain. Sorry. The new formula contains 9 mg of Bio-quercetin phytosome and the old formula contained 150 mg of Quercetin. A big difference. Now, they may say the new formula is better at lower mg because it is better absorbed, but looking at their website and looking at the material they have put out on it, it doesn't say that at all. It seems they lowered the potency but charged the same for this formula. Not good. I like LEF and find it one of the best vitamin companies on the market, but I don't like the lowered amounts in this new formula. Until they put out some information that says that the lower ingredients in this new formula is better than the higher ingredients in its previous formula, I am going to look for a new trans-resveratrol that is more like their old formula.I went back and re-reviewed their literature on this particular formula. According to their literature this new formula offers more bio availability than the old version. Therefore, even though it appears the ingredients are less, the fact it is more bio available makes the amount and type of ingredients more available to your body than the old formulation. It is worth a try before you write it off. LEF supplements are generally some of the best on the market.

I purchased different resveratrol supplememts and this one was the less effective. I took in the mornings but didnt fell any results. No side effects either. I even stopped taking it. Waste of money.

I've been using a different R-ALA, and when I saw the Life Extensions brand, I decided to switch. Life Extensions is always good quality in supplements and it was also less expensive than the one I've been using. I take this twice a day for neuropathy in my feet
