I can’t say enough nice things about these hair chalks. They looked great in all hair types, lengths, and colors. Great value. Easy to use quickly. We used this to color our horse’s mane and tail for his Halloween costume! He was a mer-horse It went on quickly. It was easy to use and he got first place!

I bought this for my Halloween costume in October. I was dressing up as Harley Quinn so I wore my hair in pigtails and used the blue color on one side and red on the other side. The pigment was great and my hair looked really good that night but I’m giving 4 stars because of 2 issues I had: 1. I was wearing a white tshirt and it stained the shoulders of my shirt and somehow also stained my white silicone phone case?? I honestly have no idea how that happened I wasn’t even talking on the phone that night and it wasn’t near my hair but somehow my white silicone phone case was dyed red the next day and it wouldn’t wash off. Luckily it was just a $5 phone case from Five Below and I just ended up buying a new case on Amazon. The stains did wash out of my shirt though! 2. It took 2 weeks for the pigment to fully wash out of my hair. I have natural dark blonde hair with highlights. The ends of my hair were tinted blue on one side and tinted red on the other side even after shampooing twice every time I showered. It wasn’t a super dark color or super noticeable unless I pointed it out to people but after a few washes one side looked more ashy/toned blueish blonde and the other side looked super brassy redish blonde. The highlighted pieces were especially noticeable. For some reason this tint lasted for over 2 weeks and I washed my hair 3x per week. Otherwise, the product worked fine for what I needed it for. The aftermath was just annoying.

These worked surprisingly well and better than spray but they are made with talc and not knowing the source could be contaminated with asbestos. If they could use a different base would be preferable.

My 7 yo is now into hair color. I decided to allow her to wear only hair color that is washable or clip in. I purchased this for an event where she had wear her team colors and this looked quick and easy to apply. She eventually tried all the colors. It was so easy to apply that she did it herself. The colors showed nicely on her dark brown hair. However, it is chalk so it doesn’t stay on long, but her hair is also long so it rubbed off easily on her clothes. Maybe it’ll work better on an up-do. All the colors showed bright, even the yellow. It looked really cute. It was also easy to wash out, she was able to do it herself during her bath time. I recommend if you’re using it for a day or event. I don’t recommend sleeping with it on as it smudges easily on clothes and fabric.

My daughter loved these and her brothers got in on the fun, too.

I got these as a birthday gift for an 8-year-old girl with strawberry blonde hair. I worried the colors might not show up on anything less than white-blonde hair and that it might create an aggravating mess for her parents. These didn't end up being legit concerns. They were a big hit at her birthday party, the color transferred easily (if not super vibrantly) and her mom told me later they washed right out. Then the chalks came out again on Christmas day when we visited with our white cocker spaniel. Her family has a white standard poodle who, as part of his normal grooming, often gets a purple mohawk. We decided to add a little color to my puppy and make them match. Even my silver-haired, 82-year-old mom joined the fun, with stunning results! Super easy application, and just as easy to wash out when the party wound down.

The color is absolutely amazing! Definitely need to wet hair first however as it is like chalk/eye shadow powder. May stain clothes if you dont follow instructions, but if you do and take precautions, this is an amazing product for kids and washes out great!
