The Key of Solomon the King: Translated from Ancient Manuscripts in the British Museum (Forgotten Books)

Not perfect
The Key Of Solomon the King is a grimoire, make no mistake, and a very specific one dealing with complex drawings of symbols and carving of Hebrew lettering. Perhaps the most important part of the book, really, is the pictures. In this copy of the book, many of the images are so poorly-photocopied that much of the text is illegible, and those that are not are still impossibly small. Many of the figures should be at least three times larger. Even more important, the first six figures, arguably the most important ones, are missing altogether. The book has also not simply taken the text from an existing perfect PDF version (there are many out there), but instead has been written by scanning a physical copy and using text-recognition software to copy it out. As such, there are typographical errors that are very obvious (capital I's become the number 1, the occasional comma is a right bracket, etc.).This is a copy of the best translation of the work, by Mathers, which takes reference from seven different manuscripts and compares them. Many of the footnotes are very useful in understanding the work, making it superior to any of the works by deLaurence. However, simply a little bit more TLC could have made this passable copy of the book great.

Book Review
Excellent book! This book was much easier to read and to follow than the American Version. It also had additional information that was interesting to read. I highly recommend reading this book if you are into higher magic. For the first time, I understand what I am doing. It explains why it is necessary to keep track of the hour, planets, signs, angels, colors, herbs, and incense....to make it easier to conjure up spirits. And we all know how hard that can be! So we need all the help we can get! And this book gives you the help you are looking for!

SPOILER ALERT: Is not the work of King Solomon
The book's formatting appears to have been crudely done through the use of MS Word. It's abundantly apparent that this text is no more than a copy and paste from internet sources with no actual authentication at any level being conducted. Now, with that harsh sentence, may I add another: yes, it appears Forgotten Books did indeed find several editions of the The Key of Solomon the King through various online sources. These pdf and text documents were likely cross-examined and compared with one another. However, just by reading this work, it is obvious it does not come from King Solomon or was it placed under the scrutiny that I would expect when purchasing a book entitled, "The Key of Solomon the King".The text is horribly inconsistent, shoddy, and unlike the other translated works of MacGregor Mathers. Please DO check out other books about the work and even the practices of King Solomon. I am sure you will find them horribly informative and interesting. I even recommend "Abramelin the Mage" if you want a very decent perspective into those particular workings. But please, DO NOT encourage these sorts of pedantic plagiarism as have been evidenced by Forgotten Books' printing of the Key of Solomon the King. WHOMEVER they stole their source material from, they should properly source vice claiming origin.

finally found this book!
This is the first and only book for the magical arcana nerd. Pictures and the old incantations for various spells, names of angels, angelic script. Some bits of wisdom if you know how to plow this sort of field. Jumping point for stories, supernatural, demonology.

Looks Nice
It could have been so much better even though the small book has nice pictures. Or maybe the writers knowledge on the subject is limited.

Unbelievably credible! Beats reading the same old Bible over ...
Unbelievably credible! Beats reading the same old Bible over and over into infinite insomuch that this book is a very innovative spin on the reality of a piece of history as recorded.
