Kelty - need I say more?
This is a little bit of a flex item honestly - but I had a little extra christmas money so I decided to splurge because I'm something of a Kelty fan. Let me be clear: this thing is SNUG and water tight. I got the 55-85 one and it fits my 50L redwing nicely, but also will fit my Coyote 65. It really looks great, if you're an aesthetic kind of person. For the price, I think it is kind of over-priced and you're sort of paying for the name, but it does look slick . . and let's be honest, deep down - we all want to look like we know what we are doing. This thing is awesome for that. I poured Koolaid on it. Water. Soda. All of it went right off. No residue. NOTHING. It is like an invisible shield. It comes in a nice little storage pouch with some mesh on it, and a velcro strap for stowing away [and likely airing out so it doesn't get mildew-y]. Very light [maybe not ULTRAlight, like all those ULTRALIGHTERS always have to go on about, and will try to convince you to look like a hobo with a trash bag wrapped around it - but i digress] All in all, the price is honestly a little ridiclous to me and I would recommend it go down about 15 dollars but if you've got a little extra cash from the holidays, treat yourself to this thing. It is worth it. Only thing I wish in future models is some kind of "strap" sleeves added seperately so that you can keep your straps from getting wet and then chafing you.

Trusty companion in prolonged wind and rain
Kept my bag (30L) dry on the Laugavegur Trail - first 2 days were non-stop rain/wind. I was able to cinch it around my bag tightly and double knot the drawcord - it held securely in extreme wind (3 friends who simple elastic rain covers had to take theirs off to avoid them being blown away).

A tough pack cover!
It didn’t rain substantially on my pack when I was out in the backcountry of GNP for 8+ days. However, this cover shed light rain when I had it sitting around camp, but most importantly it offered great protection from abrasion for the pack itself. It also cinched and fit around the 85L pack very nicely, with a full load and fly fishing gear strapped to the outside. Seems to be holding up to dirt and scrapes well.

Sturdy rain cover for backpacks
This looks well-made and durable, with a built-in pouch, but the darn thing weighs about 8 oz, pretty heavy for what it is. However, the price was fair and I like Kelty products.

Worked just fine.
This cover looks exactly as shown fits my 105 liter pack perfectly. Spent some time in the rain and worked as should.

Kept my backpack dry in a thunderstorm.
Great rain over. Fit well over my backpack and was able to synch it tight over the straps and waste band while it sat under a tree in a thunderstorm. (Tent too small to fit me and my backpack) . Everything was still dry an hour and a half later. Glad I bought it. Well worth the money.

Yes...The XL cover will fit on the older Mountaineer frame packs...
Works like the 70s vintage frame pack rain covers
