After the tumultuous end of the first book 'Powerless', Paedyn and Kai return back in this cat and mouse chase adventure with a heavy dose of romance. The Enforcer Kai is duty bound to capture and present Paedyn before the newly crowned King, KItt. While Paedyn struggles to hide in the shadows in the city of Dor with a handsome reward on her head, Kai marches on to fulfil his promise to Kitt to bring Paedyn back to Ilya alive. Kai and Paedyn are strung together by fate, destines for each other but will fate bring them closer or pull them apart? Reckless is a continuation of the story and since it was the second book of the trilogy, I went into it knowing that it will not be the end of the story but only plot development. It was fun reading the fun back and forth dialogues between the two, their struggles to keep feelings away from their actual reality. There's very little development in terms of plot. I was hoping for that in this book there's going to be a development of the relationship between Kai and Paedyn. When we last saw them in Powerless, till the last trial, their love was on the way to becoming a reality. But then her betrayal of Kitt's trust and the resistance was the turning point. I was hoping for just a little bit more of plot development. If you love playful banter (A bit juvenile but still cute), love reading enemies to lovers romance books and looking for a read that goes along the writing styles of Rebecca Yarros (Fourth Wing) or Sarah J Mass's ACOTAR series, this is a good choice. I'd say this is a mildly spicy book with no overt sexual descriptions. It is milder than ACOTAR. There's no such deep message, nor is there complex world building - so go into it expecting a simple read. I completed this is three sittings, the banter was cute, and I could visualize their interactions in my mind. Now, for some mild spoilers: Paedyn and Kai are forced to work alongside each other for survival Kai accepts his attraction for Paedyn and is torn between Love and Duty Paedyn learns more about his father's past life as a Healer and Resistance Leader Paedyn also accepts her love for Kai I got this a week and half after the release (2nd Jul) , placed order on 16th July and got it a day later in one piece. But I'll say it again, please AMAZON , at least put a cardboard lining to save books from rough edges and broken spines. I have had so many books ruined. Please just don't place a book in a brown paper back and ship it from one end of the country to another. We want books in one piece. :)

“For the reckless souls who dare to love and be loved” I’ve seen this one getting a lot of mixed reviews and I honestly can’t say I disagree with them because this book is not for everyone. I read Powerless back in May and was so eager for July to come soon just so I could get my hands on Reckless, and now I’m feeling slightly disappointed. One of the major plus points that Powerless had for me was its plot development and Reckless had little to none of it. Long story short, the whole book was about Paedyn and Kai walking in the desert. However, even though Reckless lacked in being plot driven, the character development more than made up for it. The inner turmoil that Kai, Paedyn and Kit go through is an important one to witness and Lauren Roberts showcased it perfectly. It truly set the tone for the third book which I’m hoping will focus more on the storyline. Reckless is a story about fighting for what you believe in, even when the odds are stacked against you. It also throws light upon conflicts of class, the destructive impact of power, and the enduring strength of the human spirit. Even though Reckless didn’t tick the right boxes for me, I’m very much looking forward to the third installment in this series. If the ending of this book was anything to go by, we’re definitely in for a banger with the third one!

This is another one of those books that are few and far between - The ones you can't put down. You become obsessed with the book boyfriend. I powered through this one over the course of one night. RECOMMEND!
