This steel attachment is zinc coated to inhibit corrosion. To obtain maximum strength it is recommended to install these d-rings with bolts, lock nuts, and fender washers (wide diameter). It is not recommended to attach more than one tie down strap at a time to this d-ring. SPECIFICATIONS: The plastic base of this attachment measures 4" in diameter. The 1/4" diameter ring measures 2-1/8" wide X 1-5/8" long. The "top cap" is 16 gauge. One 3/8" diameter mounting hole secures the attachment to the floor.

Plastic may be window dressing
I got this for lashing stuff into my canoe and it is overkill. The plastic is window dressing and won't add any strength. No mounting hardware or instructions. I'm sending it back. For a big boat or other heavy duty uses get all metal and forget the plastic base.

Toyota Tacoma pick up bed tie downs
Discard the plastic cups and enlarge the holes to use these in place of the OEM washers securing the bed. Perfect.

a little bit on the big side...
These seem like really solid d rings with a nice flush housing. Even though the dimensions were clearly on the product page, they were a little bigger than I expected. To big for my needs actually, but I'm pretty sure I can use them elsewhere.
