Veanic 2-Pack Replacement Controller Gamepad Compatilbe with SNES - 7 Pin Connector

I ordered this for my retron 5 to play with my girl. I was concerned about the amount of negative reviews so I made sure to test these out thoroughly. At first, the controller plugged into the primary slot didn’t register the select button, so I had to use the second controller whenever I needed to back out to the main menu (retron menu). But after troubleshooting, it seemed to be a connection issue and after plugging in the controller cords (and extension cords that I purchased separately) tightly, all of the buttons worked just fine. The controller feels very much like my original SNES controller and while you can feel the slight difference in weight when holding both, after several minutes of game play, you feel like you’re using the original. I absolutely love the color scheme and feel very happy with the purchase. I’m fortunate that I didn’t experience the problems other users stated and so far the controllers both still function as they should. My only negative comment is that I “need” the extension cables because my setup is about ten feet away. So potential buyers should consider ordering extension cables too.

The controller worked for Super Street fighter and no problems with the moves on the game play side.

These controllers were good for a few solid sessions, reasonable value.They are not Nintendo quality. Leads pulled away from the solder easily after some use. If you are good with electronic repair, you could probably easily repair them, and add an internal collar to keep tension on the cord from going straight to the solder bits inside.

UPDATE: 33 days after recieving, and using these controllers only 3 times they both are broken. The wiring has come out of the top of one and the buttons on both are not working. 3 days after the return window closed of course. Dont buy these, they are a waste of money.The bottoms work well, but the cords are much shorter than I expected. We must sit very close to the console to use these which is not comfortable. Will probably purchase others with a longer cord or cordless.

Very basic but good. Had for a few days and they held up well with me and my boys playing lots of Contra and Street Fighter. I’ve noticed that the d-pad can be particular for instance when you want to duck/kneel in contra you have to get the down button flush... no big deal... good all around

Great buy. I use mine for my RETRON5. Wonderful bang for your buck. Solid quality. I really like the colorful buttons, they’re neither convex or concave but not uncomfortable in any way. The shoulder button feel just how they should as do the rest of the buttons. The cable is a decent length. Great controller for SNES compatible consoles. Would buy again. Solid build quality and no lag I can detect.

I bought these because my only original SNES controller finally stopped working about a month ago, leaving me with only one (admittedly high quality) aftermarket controller to use, and wasn't looking to spend a lot of money for controllers I won't use more than a few times per week or so. These controllers are not outstanding, as you'd probably expect given the price for two of them, and for anyone looking for even decent quality controllers to replace their originals, I would probably pass on this.Here's a list of important differences I noticed between these and the original SNES controller I still have:Build quality is quite low all around (the controller "feels" cheap).The cord is about 2/3 the thickness of original SNES controller's wire.The plug does not have the bevel/tapering that the originals did where the wire feeds into it, which allows the wire to move around without the plastic of the plug cutting into the jacket of the wire.The combination of cord & plug design means that the cord will require special attention to keep it from destroying itself with regular use, and even then, will likely still destroy itself anyway.The controller itself is not weighty, but the texture on the plastic offers a better grip than the original SNES controllers.The colored buttons are a nice touch, I wish the original controllers had the same color scheme.The start, select, and main buttons are all raised to about twice the height of the originals. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's just different.The left and right triggers feel pretty good, actually. I'd argue that they feel better than the original SNES controllers, at least in terms of the button press. Maybe my SNES controller just felt particularly bad, though.The D-pad is misleadingly hard to use because the "pop" typically does NOT register a button press: You have to press down quite a bit harder than you'll be used to if you've played with the original SNES controllers.The attached images show the differences between the two plugs & cables, and in particular, what will happen to the cable of this controller after extended use. The light gray plug shown is technically NOT from these controllers, however it looks and feels exactly the same and also came from a cheap 2-pack of replacement SNES controllers that I bought maybe four or five years ago preemptively. The dark gray plug is, of course, the original, which is quite a bit more solid in its construction & has a tapered hole where the wire feeds into, keeping the plug from damaging its cable over time (After all, that controller is an original that came with the console, meaning it's over 30 years old now, doesn't display even the slightest bit of damage to the cable caused by the plug, and only finally gave in about a month ago after enduring both a cat chewing the cable itself and a younger version of myself being mad when I kept losing in Super Mario Kart).

These SNES controllers are great. Nice and snappy and true to the originals. No faults. All good.

It's a tough rough around the edges. I've had to cut away a bit of plastic at the seams, presumably leftover from the injection moulding process, and they fit in tightly to the console. Don't let this scare you, though. They work wonderfully and I definitely recommend them!

I have the original NES game console. My controllers were not working properly and wouldn't allow me to do a few things. I bought these and they are exactly what I needed. I am very pleased with this product.
