Some What Disappointed
Every time this movie was promoted on the televison, the week before it's release, the presenters, not the promoters, the program presenters, who'd seen a preview all raved about how it was the best movie they'd ever seen. This roused my curriousity, taking what they'd said with a large pinch of salt I gave the movie a go.Now while I wasn't totally disappointed. It is in fact a very entertaining movie; it's not ground braking or as exceptionally good as they made it out to be. There is at least two moving kleenex moments but by an large it's mainly Hollywood sentimentality heaped upon more Hollywood sentimentality. Now I'm not against sentimentality, I enjoy having my hart string pluck like a harp by a good story but there is a limit to howmuch cornball emotionalism one can tolerate in one movie.Basically the story is a girl who can see Imaginary Friends (I F) she can see them for real but not her IF but other childrens IFs forgotten by their children who've now grown, and she meets a man who also can see forgotten IFs and between them they try to reunite each IF with it's now adult child.I particularly like the reference and clip from the Jimmy Stewart movie 'Harvey' a much older movie also about an Imaginary Friend but a far better movie. I almost wanted to re watch that instead. But in all it's a pleasant movie, worth a watch if you've nothing better, but not up to the hype.

Imaginary Friends
A young girl can see invisible creatures called Ifs short for imaginary friends and with her neighbour who can also see them go on a trip to unite them with kids. A delightful mix of live action and animation with good performances from young newcomer Cailee Fleming, Ryan Reynolds, John Krasinski who also writes and directs, Fiona Shaw and good voice over performances from Steve Carell, Phoebe Waller Bridge, Louis Gossett Jr in one of his final roles, and voice over cameos from George Clooney, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon and many others in a moving and funny fantasy adventure that's also surprisingly deep and adult for a movie that's supposed to be for kids.
