Great guide book that helped us plan out Phoenix-area hiking trip. Book/trails organized by geography (e.g., trails in Phoenix, Suburbs, East, etc). Trail descriptions include common info like maps, elevations, distance, difficulty, hiking times, exposure, etc. Also provides helpful insights such as fee areas in certain trailheads, best direction to hike (e.g., clockwise or counterclockwise for loops), and other hints/waypoints to successfully navigate trails. I would often take a picture of the map with my phone and pair that with my OnX GPS app, especially for the non-urban trails where there was less foot traffic. Overall this guide helped me hone in on a handful of great hikes to take over our week in Phoenix, and I would highly recommend.

Being the author is an engineer, I expected the book to be detailed. Each trail includes the following descriptions: Distance/Configuration of trail, Difficulty, Scenery expected to see, Exposure to sun, Trail Traffic, Trail Surface, Hiking Time, Water Requirement, Driving Distance, Elevation Gain, Access, Maps, Available Facilities, Wheelchair Accessibility, Contact info and Extra Comments with regards to dogs and other helpful comments. All valuable info to plan our hikes. Thank you!
