Much better than the cheap plastic hand crank reels. Was concerned about size and how much court it would hold. However it easily stores 100 ft of heavy gauge extension cord. No tangles, or binding. Just plug one end into the wall outlet and start walking. Take the real wherever you need it to go as it feeds effortlessly. Setting it down provides you with four outlets with circuit breaker protection and lighted power switch. When finished just wind the cord back up as you walk back to the wall receptacle. Major improvement over my prior plastic reel! Well made of metal components. Super convenient. Much easier to use. Very happy with this purchase. Highly recommend.

Love it, works perfectly, nice and heavy, does not slide around

Growing up in a woodshop, we had a TON of these types of cable drums. So much better than loose extension cords.This one is well made, and is holding up great.The on/off switch on it makes for a nice feature.The rolling up of the cable can be often a troublesome task, but the design on this is making it pretty simple and quick.Love it, and use it all the time.

The only issue that I have is that it's difficult to reel the cable because of the pre-connected cord that plugs the reel in. Basically you have to remove the entire cable to be able to put it back on. But clearly professionally build and high quality.

Very nice

From earlier reviews I had some trepidation about using this for my existing 12/3 cable. Sturdiness and ability to evenly wrap the wire onto the roll was in question. Let me say I now have have no misgivings about either. I had absolutely no problem wrapping my "Yellow Jacket" 12/3 100 footer onto this spool. Well, only one problem: the little restraining snap that originally holds the 1ft connecting cable onto the spool sort of got in the way when winding my 100 foot wire, so I removed it temporarily and finished the loading of the cable. Snapped back in place when done and clipped my newly wrapped cable onto this clip and all was well.I initially decided to avoid trying to do a 'neat' wrap as that was never going to happen after the first use anyway, but this didn't cause any problems with getting the entire 100 foot line onto the spool. It may look a little 'ragged' but all the wire fits securely within the spool boundary and does not interfere with unspooling.All-in-all a good value. Given I'm graduating to using spools from the old random coil (or the better 'weaving') for cable storage, this was a cost-effective way to go this next step. I am puzzled about the slim availability of thes 'use your own cable' spools, though. Amazon was the only reasonably-priced vendor of these, but the nice Prime shipping was a big plus.I wouldn't rate these as truly 'industrial' for every day use, but for reasonably rugged home use, they are perfect.Definitely recommended.

Works well, and is well made

I bought three of these. Loved them for a summer. Actually had many of my camping friends looking into getting them. Then one of the reel stopped working. I pulled off all the wire off the reel and it doesn’t have a plug like pictured it’s hard wired into the reel and one of the wires has corroded and broken off (dangerous and won’t work). So now I have a 100’ cord with no end and a reel that can’t be reused as it’s not like the picture. Tried to contact them with no success. Frustrating when you buy something it should be like what is pictured and two different pieces not soldered into the reel.
