Q: Getting my old Conn alto "shooting star" fixed up, relearning how to play after decades. What would be the best reed "strength" for getting back in?

I started playing sax again after 60 years and now with bad lungs. I've settled in on RICO 2.0. I can get the sound I want and still breathe.

Q: Where are these made ands what chemical are they soaked in?

The cane comes from France and the reeds are made in the US. There are no chemicals involved in the process.
