Shires Wessex Soft Feel Lunge Line 8m

was really excited to take my boy out training this evening, incredibly disappointed to discover that this lunge line wasn't as described in the product image. Its actually decribed on the label underneath as 'cotton lunge rein'. This seems to be happening rather a lot - Shires Wessex sort out your labelling and packing! I'm incredibly disappointed, the one you have sent me is not even worth trying out as it is not fit for purpose.I received a replacement very quickly for which I am grateful ...however the clip broke after one use with my border collie recall training! Bitterly disappointed as all other reviews say how great it is ... was really looking forward to this & no option for replacement, just to return. Sorry Shires Wessex but can’t recommend this product due to the obvious defect.

For some reason the picture with the black Line is white, and I was kind of hoping white would arrive but it didn't.However, I used this for the first time today, and am very impressed. The line is genuinely soft, the clip seems good quality, and, while sturdy, it was by no means to heavy for my dog (I'm working with a rescued street dog with no guaranteed sense of re-call yet).I Can coil it all in one hand but only just ~ because it is beautifully padded and does indeed feel very soft. I recommend it highly.

Used on my pony with Cavesson. Nice and light to attack to the “top of nose” set up on cavesson and doesn’t bother his nose in any way. Also using to lunge in a headcollar. Of course it gets tangled but I think that’s more user error than the product. But if you like heavy old school lunge lines this may be too light and soft or perhaps if your horse is prone to crazy fits on the lunge who knows the buckle may give in?? I don’t lunge in the traditional BHS way round and round in fast circles but do more classical work and stay closer to him and move with him. I really like it and it has stayed very fresh with approx weekly use and has served my purpose very well. What’s a bit long for what I use it for (hence the tangling!) but great otherwise!

Not the 'Soft tubular nylon web' described and pictured. This isn't tubular web, it is just flat webbing that cuts through your fingers.

This is a great value line, and certainly of similar quality to that provided by the dog training school that I am visiting with my puppy every week. Their's was about twice the price, but available in different colours.This one is nice and thick / padded, very comfortable to hold, and use with the dog.Other puppy owners (at my puppy school) have been especially envious of the neat carrying bag which comes with the line - this means that it is neatly contained within your bag of other puppy training stuff (it's like having a baby all over again!). The line is very easy to roll up and put away into the storage bag (just as long as your puppy lets you!).A good purchase, of great quality. I would buy it again.

bought to use a lead for my Rottweiler as recommended by my dog behaviourist and its great, I don't need to worry that it might snap as its made for horses. I bought 1 of these in this colour and another one in a dif colour for my other rotty. great buy

This is a really nice lead, it is strong and soft to handle. I use it for training my dog even though it is designed for horses. I find the 8M length manageable and also long enough to allow my dog some freedom whilst being sure she won't run off.EDIT: After using the lead for a while I wanted to point out that it gets very heavy when wet as the material absorbs water. This is the downside of using it with a dog as obviously it is designed for use with a horse. You certainly wouldn't want a dog to go swimming with it attached.

I love this, I bought it for my youngest dog when he was a puppy to help with recall training. It's so strong, and a good length. I like that this actually has a handle, most long lines don't, which can make them awkward to hold.I still use this now in places where having my dog fully off-lead isn't a safe option. It's certainly lasted the test of time (I bought this a year ago, it's still good as new, despite having been dragged through all the weathers!).
