This program of French masterworks was designed to showcase all the colors and nuances of the new, 102-rank Julia Irene Kauffman Organ, Casavant Frères Opus 3875, 2011, located in the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, Kansas City, MO. New Organ shows it's paces.
Up to RR High recording stanards. But something is missing in the performances. But still recommended.

Incredibile la resa alle basse frequenze, mai sentito una tale profondità. Tutto ai massimi livelli, un riferimento indiscutibile.Mi sarebbe piaciuto sentire anche Bach registrato qui…

Lovely selection of organ pieces, well presented, and superbly engineered. High-end stereo owners, take note!
To start with, this is a Reference Recording, which makes it amongst the best-engineered discs in the world. I'll often buy RR discs, even when the content is not something I really love, just to see how well the disc compares, sound-wise, to others. This disc is no exception: superbly engineered and solid, rumbling, organ notes that make my subs quite happy. The music is an interesting mix, ranging from relatively well known (Widor, although not the famous bit from Symphony 5!) through lesser known (Bonnet). In between there's the usual organ composers: Franck, Vierne, and Durufle, as well as others. There's no real theme, per se, to the selections or their order (at least that I can see) and there's a lot of excerpts from works (like the Widor), but this is an interesting CD program to sit and listen to. If anything, the selections seem to have been chosen to show the range and possibilities of a decent organ, and as such, present a little bit of everything. The organ itself sounds impressive, with nice voicings, variety of pipes, and a decent bass end.I've been an organ fan for decades and buy pretty much every disc or LP that comes out featuring the King of Instruments, and while many of them get listened to when first opened then shelved, this one has stayed in regular rotation for several months since it arrived. Recommended from musical, instrument, and engineering points of view!

This CD is simply awesome. For the organ lover
This CD is simply awesome. For the organ lover, it contains some perfectly played pieces from some major names in the history of French organ composition. The track listing is basically a who's who of the best of the French composers for the grandfather of all instruments: Durufle, Dupre, Widor, Vierene, and more...Here's what you need to be cautious of... this CD is one for the audiophiles. Its a |24 Bit HCDC recording". the microphone placement is perfect, the soundstage is perfect, and the dynamic range is mind blowing. There is some SERIOUS low frequency rumbling on this CD so watch your speakers.

Grabación impecable, como todo lo de Reference Recordings. Lo recomiendo para los amantes del órgano, una muy buena interpretación de Jan Kraybill.
