Upgraded to a 2tb ssd m.2 2280 in my ROG Ally. Worked great and easy to install.

The installation of this 90 degree adapter to convert the rog ally M.2 2230 slot to a 2280 was very simple. I highly recommend using this product because the 2280 m.2 are way more cost-effective than the stock size 2230 for the rog ally. This is because the 2280 is a more common size that are used on PC builds, so availability and size makes them cheaper. For me, I chose to use this in conjunction with the crucial pci 3.0 P3 2Tb M.2 SSD because of the lower power draw. PCI 3.0 speeds are sufficient in my opinion, and it's still much faster than any microSD card. In fact, I wanted to avoid using microSD altogether for the rog ally since it is known to have a faulty card slot that overheats. The temps I'm monitoring aren't bad -- I was on high settings for genshin impact, running on 25W turbo mode and it got about as high as around 72C maintaining 60 fps. On my list will be to try to install a piece of copper heatsink to see if it helps further with heat dissipation, but since I went with an ssd with low power draw, I'm not too concerned. It's just something I'd recommend considering if you choose an SSD that draws a little more power.

Have been using it for a few weeks. I already had one of these I ordered elsewhere but I liked the fact this is red so it matched the internals better (yes, the internals I don't see, I know. Don't question it). Regardless, I haven't experienced any issues or any noticeable difference in performance. My drive is a 4500mbs pcie4 2280 by fanxiang and I've had no issues or variations in performance. I also do not run my device on 30W power as I treat it more as a hand-held than a PC I also do not run this thing at peak performance. I am fine with 720p/45-60fps low settings on 10-25W and experience no thermal throttling for what I do. Other than the color, the other things I appreciate about this over my other one is: -Came with a m.2 screw. My other didnt -mount where the screw goes (see 5th photo) was easier to use and felt more secure. One thing I didn't notice was the mount for the screw (5th photo) has a sticker or tape on it. Which wasn't easy to remove. I ended up poking a hole through the other side to be able to pry it off. This is probably to protect the threads which I'm fine with as I'd rather have the protection than not. Regardless, for the price, I recommend it. When installing this, take precautions to remove the battery cable and follow ESD/anti static procedures. CPPC TEK has stated you can remove the black flap and recommends some kind of 2280 m.2 heat sink. I chose to leave it cause I do not experience any issues or heat problems with the way I use this device. Your mileage may vary.

My Rog Ally suffered from minimal storage and I needed a full size nvme SSD and that’s where this adapter comes in. You have to install this onto the 2032 but then the L shape angle allows you to mount a full size card to the back which normally have more storage and are cheaper. If you are looking for more storage on your ally then this is exactly what you Need! LinksTek is a household brand for pc parts and I trust them when it comes to adapters. This product works. It is that simple. It fits the Rog Ally perfect and converts the 2230 slot into 2280 compatible. I can close the back cover completely without any issue with this piece added. I ordered a 2tb 2280 to upgrade my Ally which is a lot more affordable and easily available compared to a 2230 2tb. Installation is a total breeze, and no issue a few days after insallation.
