OK
Nothing special but they do what they are needed for, i.e. plugged into a side USB port on my laptop so I can see the keyboard properly when the rest of the room lights are down or off. Don't know how long they will last as I have already had the casing holding the three LEDs come apart a couple of times in my hand, but its only a push fit with four small plastic pins on one half fitting into small receiving holes on the other half so the second time I dabbed a tiny bit of super glue on the pins. Internally they are three LEDs in series with a 120 ohm limiting resistor that looks like an 1/8th of a watt rating.

Dissapointing
When it arrived, delivery OK, the end LED did not work. The head is loosely fitted. It fell off and otherwise rotates too easily. I prised the head apart to discover that the end LED had not been soldered properly so I got the soldering iron out and fixed that. The three LEDs are wired in parallel with a single dropper resistor. It's cheap but it is not good practice. This will probably be why people have experienced product where one, or more, of the LEDs gradually fail. The USB entry for the gooseneck is acceptably tight but as suggested the head is unacceptably loose. I used some silicon rubber sealant to fix that part. You will need a good firm fitting USB socket. In terms of illumination as suggested by others the curvature causes focussing of the light but, and I will have to wait until it gets properly dark, it looks like it will be just sufficient for the character part of a full sized keyboard, black keys with white lettering. I'm using it on a desktop computer. Very 'War of The Worlds' but the Martians would not have got very far if their Death Ray only worked at 2/3rds power and the end dropped off. It's cheap but it does the job. Unfortunately it is also cheap and shoddy and arrived broken.

It'll do
I'm not sure it's suitable for laptops.I'm using it to light my base-unit keyboard; attached to a USB extension cable, trapped between my keyboard and the desk-top.The light's USB plug doesn't fit well in my netbook's USB sockets but, then again, I didn't buy it for my netbook. It is flexible, and can be coiled to act as its own support, but it's not long enough to light a useful area whilst coiled, hence, the plug-end needing to be solidly anchored in order to achieve enough height to light 2/3rds of my keyboard. It would light most of my netbook keyboard, if I could rely on it staying plugged in.It illuminates more area than my miniature desk-lamp, but only just, wheras the desk-lamp can be used at any angle, anywhere because it has solid a base.

not very good really
I bought this so i could still use my laptop when my wife comes to bed & i have to turn the bedroom light off, & even though it does provide a little bit of light, it seems to spotlight on just a few of the keys rather than a broader beam to light them all up, & its not the best design for a usb powered light, when you have it plugged in it puts a lot of strain on the usb socket because of the weight of it, but i guess its better than nothing. :-(

type in the dark
I know its not the most solid made light , but it works (so far) it gives just enough light to let you seee the key pad on a lap top.the only down side is the long delivr time , but thats being picky seeing as it came from china. and for the price of £1.41 I can and did put up with that. Good value by any ones hard up wallet

Mediocre
I love gadgets but have a cupboard full of unused bits and bobs. I've used this a couple of times and it has not yet been relegated to the darkness of the gadget store but I have cleared a space for it in readiness. It's okay at what it does, not the best and certainly not the worst but the concept is far better than the delivery. It is worth the money so worth a punt - just don't expect too much.
