Overwhelming saltiness
Never had salted licorice before so didn't know what to expect. First taste was not pleasant, very salty. But after having 1, after a some time I decided to try another and that was when the overpowering saltiness was no longer as noticeable and I started tasting the other flavors. Now I am really enjoying them. I am about a third of the way thru the container now and I am picking up the chile and the licorice flavor when before all I could taste was salt. One nice side effect of the saltiness is that it discourages you from just quickly eating one after the other as many are tempted to do with sweets/snacks. I do make sure I have some water nearby in case I suddenly get the overwhelming saltiness again. This was a nice spur of the moment purchase, though there was a large delay from USPS before I received it.

Outstanding
Excellent chocolate covered high quality black licorice. The 'ultra violet' adds a very unique taste. Savor at room temp.!

Ultra Violet Awful!
This was purchased for me as a gift, since I usually love anything violet. However, this was THE worst candy I have ever had in my life! The overly-salty exterior is awful, and there's not a hint of violet flavor. It's a small licorice ball coated in white chocolate, then dipped in what tastes like some type of industrial cleaning product with a coating of salt! If I could give zero stars, I would.

Yummy
Tasted good, different with a twist. Little pricey for the amount you get.

Nasty taste 🤢
Unusual taste that must be acquired with time. I won't buy again, because it sounded better than it was. I will eat them, because of the almonds.

Buy for the name, devour for the taste sensations
This is not for all markets but if you are a fan of Nordic licorice, or are willing to try it (several times), or are a fan of stinky ammonia cheese, give it a try. You’re first confronted with a powerfully strong ammonia-like salty coating that as it dissolves melts into a delicious chocolate layer that then melts to a chewy licorice core to savor. I had tried something similar in Iceland and was shocked when I first tried it (I was expecting a cocoa coating but encountered a coating not unlike that on these). I ended up liking the layers of tastes. These are similar but more pronounced. I found them addictive.

No safety seal
This is a very tasty product. I enjoyed the Violet favor, white chocolate and salmiak licorice. Overall a great combination; however, I’m a fan of Budlow’s licorice products and I do find them more to my liking, and the Budlow chocolate coating seems more creamy & rich to me. The real game changer is a lack of a safety seal on the Haupt. You literally take it out of the Amazon bag & open the screw off lid. No safety seal on the outside & none on the inside. I do realize there is no Federal requirement for a safety seal on candy, but for the price you pay for this - well I expect it. Budow’s DOES have a safety seal inside the jar, and my future purchases will be exclusively to the for this type of chocolate covered licorice.
