No the inner pockets are not removable. Great bag!

The sleeves are not removable. It’s a great bag.

Q: Does this bag have room to put a mini cutting mat? A pocket to slip it into?

If your mini cutting mat is smaller than the overall dimensions of the bag, you can store it loosely inside the bag. The largest interior zippered pocket could fit a mat sized no larger than 7 3/4" x 11". The other alternative is to store a mat in the exterior pocket, but obviously you would not be able to zip it. The widest rigid object that would fit in the exterior pocket could be no wider than 11 1/4", although I was able to barely insert my Olfa 11 x 17 mat which is flexible into the exterior pocket. The 11 x 17 mat measures out at 11 3/4" x 17 3/4" and extends well above the top of the bag. Even with the mat in the exterior pocket, the bag is still easily carried by the handles. Hope that helps.
