It Works!
I have had trouble with squirrels for years coming on to the deck and digging into the flower containers to bury their acorns. Because this has a solar panel on it's head the head swivels to make it seem alive to wildlife. It is also the size of a large owl that can be scary to smaller critters. it does not keep away birds from the birdbath which I am thankful.

Woodpeckers moved on.....
These are super light weight, and the head swivels with the wind. I had a big time woodpecker problem in my garage. I mounted two of these, and the woodpeckers moved out.

I found the fin!
There were a few reviews that mentioned a missing clear plastic fin that appears in the product images. Well, I found it ! It’s in the hollow body of the owl. Just take the red plug out of the bottom, shake the owl, and the plastic fin should drop towards the bottom hole along with three screws. The fin and the screws are in individual plastic protective coverings. I only just set up the owl this morning so I don’t have any opinion yet on whether it works to deter birds or not. I’ll update later after using the owl for a week or so. Our neighborhood looks like a scene from that Hitchcock movie, “The Birds” so Mr. Hootie Owl has some challenges ahead. UPDATE 7/27/2023. This owl works pretty well to discourage birds. They tend to keep flying rather than landing in the back yard. It helps to move the fake owl now and then so the birds don’t get too used to its presence. Not a perfect solution but it helps.

Misleading advertising - head will not rotate in the wind
I purchased this item and like the way it looks. However, in my experience, claims that the head rotates are misleading. The pictures of the owl in the product page seem to show a clear tab on the back of the head which I assumed the wind could grab onto causing the head to rotate or at least bobble. However, the product I purchased has no such tab and there is nothing for wind to grab onto to cause the head to rotate. While the head will bobble if you physically move the "owl", it most certainly does not rotate in the face of even reasonably forceful heads. I would suspect it would take a hurricane or a leaf blower to get the head to rotate when set down by itself. I thus find the pictures, videos and claims made for this product deceptive. Nonetheless, I am giving the product a 3 star review and am keeping it as I simply like its looks. But it will behave no better than a frozen statue and I have no hopes of it keeping away any vermin out of the garden.

Terrible product for birds
This owl doesnt scare any birds away as advertised. The heads need a good breeze for them to rotate. And even then it is hit or miss that the head will move. Just seeded lawn and birds loved these owls. They did nothing to scare them. Dont waste your money. If you need to scare off birds but the Ugold solar powered garden owl. I sent these junky owls back, and bought the Ugold owl. Wow! Not a bird on my lawn since i put him out there. Solar powered. Detects motion (birds) all over my 700 sq ft lawn. I wish i had bought the Ugold owl years ago. Very impressive. But this product i am reviewing now, is Junk. Unless you just want a decoration.

It keeps the smaller birds away
I bought this in the hopes that it would keep birds from pooping all over my wife's new car. I didn't expect it to work honestly; but it did. the birds decided to stay out of the tree over her car. Now the quality is not great but hey it was cheap and it did the job!

Cheaply made and arrived with the head separated from the body.
We bought this as yard art but also to keep the squirrels out of the garden. 1 – the squirrels love it so it doesn’t work for that purpose. 2 – we have seen similar products where the head swivels in the wind, this one does not. 3 – when it arrived they had was separated from the body. I was able to snap it on and though the head does rotate when I spin it with my hand, it does not rotate in the wind. There are similar owls available that don’t have a rotating heads for much less price. If we wanted an owl without a rotating head we would buy one of those. We sent it back for a refund.

Works for our garden
Got this owl for our garden last month. We have several fruit trees, rosemary and tomato in the garde, often times attracting flies and bugs. With this owl decoy, seems less bugs! Still yet need to see the longer term effect, so far me and my hubby like it so far. We even tried to put it in the front door as a decoration, and our kid loves to play with it. For the price, worth giving it a try!

Immediately after putting this in my backyard, no more squirrels. Even the birds are giving my plastic owl respect. I haven't seen any squirrels in the front yard either, but I don't honestly expect it to be effective if it's out of sight. If it could plug in and play owl sounds, it may work for farther distances. I am very happy with this product. I think it's very cool that the head turns in the wind and the eyes look legit. I may buy a second one for the front yard and then my gardens can replenish. The squirrels and rabbits are absolute terrors on bulb flowers, especially hyacinths.

Didn't think the quality was that good for the price and it doesn't do what I hoped and that was to keep pigeons out of the garden

I ordered this owl scarecrow on Sunday, and it arrived on Monday. Wonderful! It seems to be scaring the pigeons away, which is good, but the head is not moving around as expected. I thought it was supposed to be like a bobble-head owl to look more lifelike. Oh well. It seems to be working, so that's a good thing.

Hoped the product would do what it said by scaring pigeons but they just sit next to it

It's a nice looking ornament but TOTALLY USELESS to keep pigeons off my balcony. I tried it for about a week. The pigeons are still invading my balcony. They just look at it in wonder...The owlhead does not move unless I set it into motion...Unfortunately here I am unable to attach photos I took over the last few days ... I WILL RETURN THE OWL
