Engine Oil Pump

Installed this pump when doing timing job on 2004 5.4 3V per the recommendation of FordTechMakuloco. I had to remove pan to fetch out the small broken pieces of chain guides stuck in the suction pipe inlet so changing pump out was super easy at that point. Mine included the o-ring. Pump ships bone dry, I poured some oil into the inlet port and also some white Lubriplate motor assembly grease and then rotated the center rotor of the pump to make everything in the pump body nice and wet with oil//grease mixture. After assembly I had 60 psi cranking oil pressure cold. Hot idle after full heat saturated warm up was 28 psi and my engine had what I consider to be a more advanced state of wear in the cam towers and journals. But the cam phaser operation and degree of error on scan tool is correct. Buy this pump.

Great replacement for your 5.4 3v. Performs great and helps a worn engine get the pressure and volume you need. Must have for timing jobs.

This is not like installing a door knob! It's an oil pump. The engine needs to be disassembled to some degree to get this installed.But it does the job. Increased oil pressure and oil flow. Something you need in an engine with lot's of wear and tear due to high mileage. When cold, pushes about 90 lbs of pressure and warmed up goes down to 40lbs or so.F150 5.4l 3V

Easy instal while doing timing chain! This pump will move 30w oil and helps out big time. Pro tip: you probably have timing chain guide pieces in your oil pan. Pull the pan before doing this pump. Makes removing/installing the intake tube bolts a breeze. Tight fit for small fingers if you’re doing it with the pan on!

Doing a full timing job on 08 Expedition 5.4 3v and fordtechmakuloco’s video recommends these pumps that have more volume and more pressure than stock ford pumps, and had a thick cast backing plate that does not flex and lose pressure at higher rpm. Make sure you have an 8 mm flex head ratchet wrench and a cat claw to remove and install the oil pick up bolts. My complaint was even after priming the pump it seems to air locked and out not build pressure. I had the crank position sensor unhooked so it would not fire but no pressure. I ended up removing the motorcraft fl820s filter that as a one way check valve and installing a cheapo filter that I verified let oil drain back down, and using using my mechanical oil pressure gauge hose installed upstream of the filter and a one gallon garden sprayer to feed oil through a 1/4” barb to 1/4 npt that the oil pressure gauge had fitting to match through temporary gauge hose into the top of the fully installed pump. I do not know why the pump needed all this to finally build pressure but Melli g could certainly do a better video than the one where they are pumping oil in the oil filter housing that does not make it to the pump

Showed up in timely manner, but without O-ring. I have installed it but haven't run the motor yet. I'm sure it will be fine, if not I will update this review

Installed on 5.4 3v. I put oil in the pump but still could not get pressure by dry cranking. Had to start the engine but pressure came up almost instantly.

Nothing wow it it just the box was damaged

A being ford tech i installed it on my own truck to increase oil pump pressure..bieng vct phaser noise gone vs the original ford pump.this pump is fit on all ford 3v 5.4 liter tritron engine.because ill been installed this pump 3 times before on my own truck.

Fit perfectly. Oil pressure right away. Definitely we'll worth it. Recommend for 5.4 3v and 4v
