Q: I'd like to use it on white baseball pants but don't want it to "bleach" out the black emblem or piping on the pants. Will it do that?

This is for rust stain removal. I have used it in my washing machine on white, light colored and dark colored fabric and it hasn't affected the color of anything. We have iron in our water naturally, not so much unless it stands or is a location that has water run over it routinely, like the washer or dishwasher. I've used it in my dishwasher and run through a regular wash cycle, or let it stand for a while in our toilet bowls to take care of rust stains... It's not likely to remove the color from the black emblem or piping. It's not bleach.. It won't do a thing for stains other than rust though. If you just want to spot a few rust stains on the pants, I'd suggest using a liquid such as Whink instead.

Q: Can this product be used on all types of bathtub/shower surfaces? Is it abrasive?

Yes. It's not abrasive but does have a particular unsavory odor. Don't inhale the powder especially.

Q: How often to use this in a water softener?

Our water softener dealer said to put in two teaspoons after every bag of salt. I suppose the ideal rate could vary by water quality.

I've never used it for this purpose, but careful testing on a small area should tell you. I suspect it would work just fine.
