The book is outstanding and its usefulness extends well beyond the topic of house sketching. The explanations are clear, comprehensive, yet concise. The principles that Kiefer presents can easily be transferred to other subjects and other media (e.g water color painting). The way he writes, you can almost hear him sitting next to you as you’re working, gently encouraging you along the way. Whether you’re a beginner or a more seasoned artist, this book has something for everyone, be it loads of useful tips or a heap of genuine inspiration.

Good for beginners to more experienced sketchers/artists. From materials, to color theory and art techniques, to finished projects all are covered in detail.

A wonderful book with lots of inspirational drawings! There are plenty of tips, tricks and tutorials in this book to inspire any artist. I highly recommend this book for people who are into urban sketching.

I already have a pretty large collection of books that address drawing techniques applied to producing photorealistic drawings. This book has been very helpful to spur some more impressionistic techniques for me. The layering with the different mediums (black pen, layered markers, white pen) was very useful to understand.

I recently purchased a book by Albert Kiefer, and I couldn't be happier with my decision! I first discovered Albert through his course on Domestika back in 2022, and I was absolutely blown away. For most of my life, I believed I couldn't draw, but Albert's simple lessons gave me the confidence to believe that even I could create art!After completing his course, I set a goal to draw every day. I even went out and took about 30 photos of different houses in my hometown to use as inspiration. Unfortunately, a sudden move to another country disrupted my plans, and I only managed to draw four houses. Despite the setback, I have a strong desire to return to this fantastic hobby because it truly inspires me.I bought Albert's book not only to support my favorite artist but also in the hope that it would reignite my motivation to draw—and it absolutely did! I was so engrossed in the book yesterday, and it has filled me with excitement. Although I plan to draw on a tablet instead of paper (the CTRL+Z function saves me from the fear of making irreversible mistakes), I can't wait to dive back into drawing.Albert, thank you for this amazing book and for teaching me how to draw!

The layout of this book is exceptional. The graphics illustrator has done an excellent job walking you through his process while encouraging and teaching you not just the concept but also the basics of this graphic design art form. His style is encouraging, drawing you into the frame helping you to look beyond the static building to help it come to life. Very beginner friendly.

Such beautiful art. This is a welcome addition to my art library. He shows you how to do the projects step by step. This is exactly what I was looking for to bring atmosphere and a sense of mystery to my grandmothers house paintings. So much character in his artwork.

Pocas veces se encuentran libros que realmente permiten practicar solo: en este, además de muchos detalles sobre cómo abordar el urban sketching, hay cerca de 7 ejemplos desarrollados de comienzo a fin, con mucho detalle y lista de materiales usados. Lo recomiendo como libro para el que realmente quiere aprender rápido.
