Does the combo IR thermometer and probe have a visible laser?

No, it is not visible but it works well. I like it because it not only has a laser but a probe as well.

I have a dog, and i live in palm springs. will this work well to see how hot the pavement or sidewalks are? does it work well on lawn, gravel?

I just took some readings for you. 85 degrees outside. With that being said, 111 on patio in sun, 89 on grass, 86 on covered wood porch floor, and 102 on gravel. I say yes.
