So, I have been a professional truck mechanic for 39 years. Occasionally I have to work on passenger cars and light pickups that are a part of the fleet. I needed an OBDII scanner but didn’t want to spend too much money since I plan to retire in the next couple of years. There were specific functions I had in mind so I made a list and did a little research. There are a lot of very nice diagnostic tools out there that were more than capable of doing what I need but I just can’t justify spending that kind of money for a tool that I may only use a handful of times before I retire. I watched a video on this tool and noted that it was exactly what I was looking for. There is an email address on their website which I used to ask them several questions before I bought it. They answered every one of my questions within 24 hours. I am sure they got tired of me. LoL. I got it about 2 months ago and played with it a few times, it’s exactly what I need. There is a bit of a learning curve, but I am 61 years old. Younger folks may figure it out much quicker than me.

It fails to auto-VIN the following brands/models: Nissan Tiida 2004 BMW E39 1997 BMW E90 2008 Renault Clio 2017 Toyota Kluger 2011 Very limited functionality, too. The seller positions the unit as "semi-professional", but it is as bad as a $10 cheap Chineese OBD2 scanner.

This tool was not capable to read AWD drivetrain codes on my car. I discovered I had selected a product that did not cover all modules on my specific application. I later searched the foxwell web site and found another scan tool that would do the job but finding the right one is not easy to do, the product application listings are difficult to search.

The unit overall appears to be of nice quality. Although in my case it just did not work for my application. Even after I applied all updates. Ordered this to service the EPB (electronic parking brake) system on a 2020 Nissan Rogue. Every time I would select maintenance then EPB and select make (Nissan) it would revert back to the main menu. Even after double checking the manual and searching online the issue persisted. For this reason I will be returning it. !!UPDATE!! I changed my review to 4 stars simply because of the professionalism and customer service the company provided. Even though I returned the scanner they have been very helpful and kind throughout the whole process. In the future if I find myself in need of a scanner I will definitely look to Foxwell.

Since I received this a few days ago, I have used it to bleed the brakes on our GMC 1500 and read an ABS code on a Fiat. It worked flawlessly in both applications. The software update was easy. I really was impressed with the live data function. I was not only ably to pull the data from the ECU for engine data but also the ABS. Great product!
