Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 Studio Techniques

Let me start by saying I am in no way a seasoned veteran of editing. I have done some editing in the last 3 years and all with Premiere 6.0.I recently switched to PRO and WOW what a difference. So in order to help me along with this switch over, I purchased this book mainly because of the Author and watching his tutorials that came with Premiere Pro I could tell he knew what he was talking about.Right outta the box and in the first 3 chapters(as the beginner I am), he explains and lays out workflow examples, capturing techniques, logging of clips and explains this in a very easy to understand manner. Infact in my 3 years of Premiere I now have a greater understanding of Premiere with just this one book.I would recommend this book to anyone first using Premiere Pro and wanting to understand the new features and learn how to apply those features. You can't go wrong with this book.

I've only read the first chapter or two, and I'm chompin' at the bit to write this review. I know, that sounds like it's "pretty early in the game here" to write a review on a book, but I think I already see a really good pattern here. I know the basics of Premier Pro 1.5, and have already done several fairly complicated edits with it using multiple audio tracks, multiple video tracks, and so on, but let me tell you, I know I was only scratching the surface, in a sense of this great video editing program.I recently lost the original manual that came with the program, and figured I needed "something" to back me up in case they quit making the work manuals, so I found Rosenberg's book on Amazon, and read all the reviews on it. I was thoroughly convinced that this guy "has the goods" on Adobe Premier, so I orderd the book. I love the fact that he gives you the DVD with the book that has him discribing some of the more complicated edits visually. That's a real plus, and just the way the guy writes and handles this stuff "get's my blood pumping" (in a good way). He's very detail oriented, but he also gives you practical reasons "why" a certain button is there and/or what it "really" does, so you can understand what's really going on. I can almost "feel" his experience in the way he writes and what he says- (for instance), where he goes into detail how several of the keyboard letters can really help you, time wise, scrubbing through the clips in a seemingly more efficient way than if you "only" used the radial buttons. I know that might be up for debate, because some people aren't "keyboard editing people", like me, but I'll sure give it a shot. He seems to talk to you in a very real, "hands on" kind of way that is so important to me. It can make some things, so much easier to grasp that way. Marc Trainor.

This is THE book to have if you want to get the most out of Premiere Pro 1.5. Mr. Rosenberg not only tells you what to do, but he takes the time and effort to tell you why, so that you can apply it to your own project.Anyone who wants to write a how-to book ought to use this one as the guide and standard of how it is done correctly - for the reader, not just to get a book out to make some extra money quick.Buy this book and devour it. Then go make some great videos.

The book is a first class analysis of how to use Premiere Pro 1.5, written in a manner suitable for either the real pro or the beginner. The CD attached to it provides real case work explaining the how-to and whys of the software's capabilities.

Jacob Rosenberg is the best teacher I know to explain you even more complicate stuff with practical examples taken from the real world.In the first two hundred pages he explains you in a "human" language ALL the interface,the nuts and bolds from Premiere Pro 1.5 so that even a beginner can learn the techniques from this awesome program.The last 300 pages are a real bonus for every videoshooter and NLE editor because he reveals greater possibilities about several techniques like chroma & luma keying,effects titling,voice over,color correcting and much more.The layout,the color examples(a request since years!!!)and the outstanding well written text are certainly worth the price.An excellent compagnion CD gives you some free bonus lessons with clear explanations regarding techniques developped in the book.Believe me you don't need another book to learn Premiere Pro!We want more studiotecniques Jacob;by the way when can we expect a book written about AE by this other excellent collegue of you Brian Moffit?

I feel the author gave an honest intelligent effort, but id have preferred a little more attention to the basics.
