Guinness World Records 2008 Hardcover – August 7, 2007

Perfect condition, very good book!

My nine year old son ASKED Santa for this book for Christmas and was VERY excited to get it on Christmas morning. He loves the bright red sparkly cover and immediately placed his hands around his eyes and tried to squish them to the cover to see if it "glowed in the dark."The facts for the world records continue to be amazing and outrageous, just what any super energetic little boy wants to read and dream about in his youth. Perhaps on day I will see my son's name on one of those pages. The book is captivating, holds his rapt attention for long periods, which is difficult for almost anything to do, considering he is so impulsive, and rarely sits still for any length of time.My son and I recommend this book for any one who has a fascination for the facts of world records that people have personally managed to accomplish over the years past and present. The ideas people have come up with to decide to do to make a world record is also fascinating and amazing, and kind of like the wild frivolous law suits of the current era most of the world records are ones I would NEVER, COULD never imagine on my own, lol!

At 8 and a half, my daughter is obsessed for whatever reason about this book and about 99 percent of the things in it. She keeps checking it out of her school's library so to see it wrapped up (thanks Amazon) under our tree was just exciting for her to say the least. Again, I don't know why, but this book I just have to give rave reviews because the light of my life can't get enough of it. The great colorful photos and large print adds to it all I'm pretty sure.

My son (14) collects these books and always loves the random facts. He enjoys reading them. ThriftBooks is always a great seller of used books.

Guinness World Records is unique in that it was the first to certify all kinds of weird records. For example, Fastest Banana Eater. All the records are certified. Some records are continually broken. This book is the inspiration for the eating contests like the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating which is held every year on July 4th. Then there are records like the oldest verified human being. Sorry not Methusula. This book is published in many forms. I've owned many. Like the Almanac it's updated every year. This version is the 2008 Paperback Version. Small and compact but somewhat dificult to read but as far as I can tell all the records are included. If you want the hard copy or coffee table editions you'll have easier reading but will have to probably pay at least double the price.

I'm a gamer and I found most of the world records in this book to be very interesting. I'd say if you're a gamer that chances are great you'll enjoy this. If you're not much of a gamer I'd stick to the regular Guinness Book of World Records, which are great.

Got the 09 and 10 version first, so had to come to Amazon to get the original. Great read and enjoy the pictures. Good statistical variety of games, systems and achievements.

I regret making this purchase because the book, by any means, does not fit the condition that was listed. The front cover alone was full of stickers (I circled them in blue in my picture) and even had “BJ” written in black marker on it. I was very embarrassed when my nephew opened the package. Trick me once, shame on you. Trick me twice, shame on me. Do better, hippo_books!
