Tombstones of the Irish Born: : Cemetery of the Holy Cross, Flatbush, Brooklyn

I have a good amount of relatives buried in Holy Cross and have the interment list of all the family buried in the family plot. I really don’t blame the author because the headstone only has “Flynn”. But even that was not listed. I do not expect the author to obtain interment lists but I thought they could have mentioned the headstone. I still think it’s a good tool because I was hoping to find other relatives ( no luck for the same reason?). There are quite a few names listed and it’s a good start for researching.

This is my second copy of this book. My first is a signed copy, Joe was a friend. I have 2 residences so before this goes out of print I decided to have a copy in both.

I was excited to order this book but many family names are missing I know family are buried there but they are not included. Disappointing.

If you are searching ancestors, it is worth a try.

This is a terrific book for anyone with Irish born ancestors who emigrated to the US and lived in Brooklyn. One important thing to remember is that ONLY those headstones that included Ireland or an Irish county for the birthplace were included. There are many more Irish-born in this cemetery not included in the book if the headstones only included names and dates.
