We needed a baby gate for our basement stairs that are directly in front of our kitchen door. I did not want a gate that I had to open and close when trying to walk down to the basement (our laundry is down there and with a baby I am constantly doing laundry) and I did not want one that swung out blocking the kitchen door. This gate retracts which means you can move it out of the way entirely. It feels very secure when locked but I would still watch your child. My baby does not spend much time over by the stairs as there is nothing interesting over there but we still felt we needed to block the stairwell. The one confusing thing is that when it is LOCKED the icon is green and when it is UNLOCKED the icon is red (shouldn't it be the opposite - Green means go - red means stop). The lock is easy enough to unlock but difficult enough that a 4 year old has trouble with it (aka ideal!). Installation was easy and took my husband maybe 10 minutes. I would purchase again and recommend.

This gate was extremely easy to install! We highly recommend this gate as it is working great to keep out toddler granddaughter and also our new puppy from going down the stairs and into areas they can't be in unattended.Love this and it looks Great! Love that it easily retracts out of the way when not needed!

I bought this because I seen it in action with a Labrador retriever. It worked perfect keeping him on the deck. But I have pugs. Easy install nice looking but unfortunately my dogs are not gonna let a mesh gate stop them.

Was a little nervous with the lack of reviews but this item is great! I’ve had it for about 3 weeks now and it retracts great! Install was super easy! Super impressed and happy I bought this one! We use it to keep our toddler separated from our dogs. It dogs the job!
