Works for charging Canon 820-type batteries. Red light comes on when charging, green light comes on when charged. As for the oddball throw-ins, Why a cigarette lighter-style adapter? Can't remember the last time I was in a car with a cigarette lighter. Also, why a European-style AC plug? Have no plans to travel to Europe anytime soon, but I have this, so whatever... Maybe leave out the extras and charge a buck or two less?

I paid $5 for this little charger and it works great. Better quality than I expected. I use it for my Canon Vixia HF20 camera batteries (BP 809 and BP 819). The camera just came w/ a power supply to the camera that also charged the batteries while plugged into the camera. After years of use it stopped charging the batteries (although it would still power camera on when plugged in). I thought the charger was bad or my batteries were bad. After some research, I learned it's somewhat common for this feature to stop working on these canon cameras...something internal stops letting the charger charge the battery. I ordered this little charger to see if the batteries were still good and they both charged up well and can power the camera without the power supply. Very satisfied!
