A wonderful shake for the motivated! A disabled vet review with a different purpose than most.
Hey Folks.Let me get right to the "skinny" of this product and my experiences in using it.A very quick background on me:I played football most of my child life and played D1 ball in college. I joined the Army and gave Uncle Sam 10 years before being discharged as a disabled Vet. Why is any of this relevant? Because I want to stress that I have always taken very good care of my body and have put countless years of effort into being in the best shape possible. Now that I am disabled from the Military, I have to be creative and find other ways to take care of myself. Not being able to get out and run 5 miles a day anymore, I had to become quite a bit more creative in my eating habits and working out. I scoured the planet far and wide using so many various products to try to accomplish my goals. I wanted a quality shake that I could use each morning as a meal replacement for breakfast. After thousands of dollars, I have finally found my winner. Wow is this stuff great!Look, I won't bother to hammer you with 100 scientific details as to why and how this product works. Instead, I will tell you why I like it and why I think you might as well.I am an above average guy. 6'4'' and 240 or so. Not fat, not cut, not anything most would consider outside of "normal build". I love this product because it fills me up and I don't have to watch the clock hoping it's lunch time already. How I like to make my shakes:I make an 8 ounce cup of coffee each morning via my Keurig and pour it over iceI put 2 scoops of this into my Ninja blender with the 8 ounces of coffee and a sugar free creamer of choice for a bit more flavorAdd a few pieces of ice and boom, iced coffee smoothie that tastes DELICIOUS!Another way I do it is I take 2 scoops of this shake mix, a handful of ice cubes, and I use various MIO flavor enhancers (yes, those little bottles that you squirt flavors into your waters with) and talk about a transformation. MIO has a plethora of flavors, and 2 to 3 squirts into this mix changes the flavors so well.I have been using these shakes for a few months now, and have always felt satisfied until lunch time (I drink mine around 730 AM, lunch at Noon). For the price, I don't think you can beat how good these make you feel. I have also cut about 10 pounds over that 2 month period with cutting some carb consumption and simply walking a bit more. It doesn't take much to feel better about yourself and drop a few pants sizes. You just have to want it, and this is a wonderful tool to help you accomplish your goals. It's not a miracle shake. You won't drink it and feel full for days and lose 100 pounds watching TV. It is a life changer if you want it to be a tool in your arsenal of better health. Good luck to everyone trying to improve their health. You can do it, trust me! I went from never walking again to believing, to now jogging. Anything is possible.

LOVING it so far
I've only been drinking Visalus for 6 days but so far I am beyond excited. I am using these as a meal replacement for 2 meals a day since I am trying to lose weight. After 5 days I have lost 7.5 lbs with no change to my normal exercise routine. I do walk 4.25 miles most mornings and walk an additional 3.75 miles in the afternoon 4 times per week. I can't possible imagine being able to lose that much weight every week but it's a GREAT start. For healthy snacks I've been eating a piece of fruit (banana, apple, etc.).I did do some trial and error to determine what worked for me from a taste perspective and have provided details below.Overall details:-These fill me up at 2 scoops per shake- If sufficiently mixed in a blender or with a shaker bottle I do not think these are grainy at all and I'm pretty picky from a texture standpointNote: I have determined that the shaker bottle works great and no longer bother with the overhead of using a blender-To me there is a slight aftertaste but I just follow each shake with a chaser of 12oz of water-The first few days I was physically EXHAUSTED - even going to bed earlier. I think my body has now adjusted and I seem to be at normal energy levels again.-The first few days I did have a persistent headache. Again, I think this was my body adjusting to the lower calories. What didn't work for me:-Shake mixed in blender with water and no additional flavorings. YUCK!-Shake mixed in blender with skim milk and no additional flavorings. YUCK!!!What worked for me:-Shake mixed in blender (or shaker bottle) with 1 cup skim milk (80 calories) and 2 tbsp sugar free pudding mix - YUM!-Shake mixed in blender (or shaker bottle) with 1 cup unsweetened blend of coconut milk and almond milk (35 calories) and 2 tbsp sugar free pudding mix - YUM!If you mix everything together in the morning and let it sit until the afternoon it's almost a pudding consistency which you can eat with a spoon or somewhat drink as a beverage (it's thick). I find it equally as good to just mix together and drink right away. Since I am using sugar free pudding mix in my shakes I can easily switch up the flavors so it doesn't get boring: Chocolate, butterscotch, pistachio, banana cream, etc.Next I plan on trying to mix in fruit and ice instead of pudding mix to add additional variety. I doubt I would do this during the week due to convenience but it might be a nice change on the weekends. I am also not sure that "just" fruit will mask the taste of the base shake flavor enough for me to like it.UPDATE: I have been drinking Visalus as meal replacement for 2 meals a day for 5 weeks and have lost 17.8 lbs so far. I take Saturdays off from calorie scrutinization and pretty much allow myself to eat whatever on that one day. This gives me a way to "reward" myself for a good week, provides a mental break and IMO informs my body "hey, don't worry - we are not starving"
